Warwickshire slaughter Northern Districts

A day that will live long in the memories with Warwickshire fans. Wawrickshire dealt out a five wicket defeat on Northern which will help out the relegation fears.

For the fans who made the long trip to Hamilton they were rewards quickly. Pollock and Bulbeck struck early leaving Northern 2/4 withWarwickshire slaughter Northern Districts Fleming and Lathwell back in the pavilion. A small recovery followed but soon all hell broke loose. From 2/31 Northern crashed to 6/43. Pollock, Bulbeck, and Lawson all had three wickets and starting enjoy themselves. Rhodes battled away for Northern but when he went with the score on 75, all hope was lost. Northern Districts were all out for 82:lol::lol::lol: . Pollock the star with the ball, taking 3/16

Warwickshire were after a quick victory to improve the Net Run Rate got the runs in 21 overs losing 5 wickets. Early wickets were lost, but Penney stabilised things with a quickfire 41* off 51 balls.

Warwickshire for now can sleep easy knowing their relegation fears in the One Day comp can be slightly eased, but the battle is far from over. They will need a few more victories yet.

Somerset fails to impress new manager

The new manager of Somerset arrived and promised results, unfortunately, for what will be a dark day in the clubs history, the players did not respond to the call and were thrashed by Auckland.

Auckland batted first after winning the toss. Somerset, with a strong bowling line-up played well with Andy Caddick getting 5/35 in 10 overs. However Auckland opener D Anderson smacked 153 in 125 balls as M Betts went for 10 an over.

Auckland finished with 255 all out in 46 overs. Somersets batting was dependent on Blewett, Trescothick and Afridi, but none of them capitalised. H Kulatunga made 57 not out as the long tail of somerset collapsed to P Hitchcock as he took a hattrick and overall figures for 5/9.

The new manager however has vowed that Somerset will bounce back and squad changes will make heads turn.

Th punters curse has struck again as Glamorgan has thrashed the highly fancied Surrey by 101 runs.

Glamorgan batted first and made 5/265 with quality contributions from Ganguly 62, Klusener 78* and Dale 52. None of the Surrey bowlers made a mark.

In reply Surrey could only manage 164 with V Mane getting 60. Akram took 3/23 with two wicket contributions from Dale, Cosker and Klusener.

The Glamorgan manager was extremely happy with the result and hopes the punters who continue to mock his side choke on their porridge.

LANCASHIRE visit to MUMBAI

Lancashire don’t often get slaughtered, but I’m embarrassed to say that they were in this game.

The home side batted first and racked up an impressive 277/7 with G.Kumar (84), S.Tendulkar (36no) and A.Muzumdar (35) leading the way.
M.Mendis (10-1-53-4), M.Pushpakumara (10-2-35-1) and R.Munnik (10-2-41-0) held their own with the ball, but surprisingly A.Dale (10-0-64-0) and C.Schofield (10-0-79-1) were put to the sword.

In reply, the Lancashire innings never really got going as none of the batsmen were able to establish themselves with only M.Ramprakash (37) providing resistance.
In an incredible collapse, Lancashire fell from 82/4 to 107 all out with R.Powar claiming all six of these wickets to finish with the unbelievable figures of 5-4-2-6!!! (Shame that VCM4 is a little unrealistic in this regard as there have been many similar figures throughout the first two seasons)

Manager GrahamB was furious with the limp performance of his side, assuring Lancashire fans that there would be no repeat performances in other games this season!
Next up – a VB Cup game against Western Province. Look for an improvement!

Delayed Reaction

After 5 weeks of whinging and moaning from the Auckland player's dressing room's the beers, could start flowing for the first time.
It didn't seem possibly but finally all of Aucklands class came together at once, batting first on a good deck, D Anderson went about slashing a quality bowling line up to all parts of the ground, by the time the first wicket fell at 71, Anderson had added 54, and the member's at the Somerset ground were starting to mumble about being one of the first to see a double hundred in one day. No other assistance was added from the side, with only R Lynch reaching double figures with 18. This was due to some quality bowling from A Caddick 10 2 35 5. The innings was closed at 255 from 46 overs with D Anderson finishing with 153 off 125 being the star.

The Somerset innings was one which was stuttered. They looked like giving a good chase but when 1 wicket fell unfortunately another one would go within a few runs. HGJM (what sort've a first name's that) Kulatunga provided the only resistance with 57* but the top order was contained by Donald, Harriss, Martin and JOshi. However Hitchcock 4 2 5 9, was the one which meant Auckland wouldn't have a repeat performance of the VB cup clash by cleaning up the tail, and taking a hat trick in the process.

All in all a good trip to England for the boys and MOM D Anderson :saint:

Colts vs WP
The Colts got off to a flyer racing to 86 before Arunkumar was run out on 19 The colts dominated from there on in, Singh Making 89 off 100 balls, Katich making 41 from 50 balls, Sharath 43* off 63 and Anderson 62* off 57 - so the colts got 3/272

The WP chase got off to a sluggish start with Kirsten and Gibbs making 16 and 17, Kallis then took control for a while making 51 off 44 balls and James 35 orff 39 apart from the the WP batting offered no real resistance, Upshantha 3-22, Weeraratne 4-30 and Liyanage 2-20 were me main contribters with teh ball, so thats 3 from 3 in the OD arena and The colts are looking forward to being joined by youth start K Vaas next week for some friendlies while the CA cup is being played

KARNATAKA vs LEICESTERSHIRE

Karnataka won the toss and elected to bat first. There was a good 1st wicket patnership between N Round and AV Kale.N Round went on to make an excellent century (103) and AV Kale made (86).N Knight,M Attapatu and A Jones chipped in with few runs and Karnataka amassed 6/322 in their 50 overs. There was nothing to note about the bowling as each bowler went for more than 6 runs per over for the visitors.

Chasing such a huge total would not be going to easy for Leics and they lost wickets at regular interval.Only T Ward made 33.MA Khan stood out in the bowling for the hosts taking 4/28.J Moss took 3/18 and Karnataka won by 232 runs.

Manager Aditya was very happy with the teams allround performance and made a special mention of N Round and MA Khan who played very well.

In Cricket,or any sport in general, you do not see much emotion towards former teams by managers. But,former Northern Districts' former manager TBY has launched a vicious attack on the team.In an exclusive interview to "Peter England Sports Update" TBY has heavily criticized the teams performance in the recent 1 dayer against warwickshire. He said he felt ashamed at leaving the post when it was smooth sailing and said that adjusting to managerial change was hard, but the players have to accept that it is part and parcel of the game.TBY was forced to quit due to personal reasons and could not follow the league so he cannot rate the current manager of ND,but however good or bad she is,the players have to accept it.Unless they start behaving professionally,ND are going to struggle.

[He was looking quite angry]

nsw back in sydney after the very good win on the weekend, however s macgill was a big price to pay for the 2 points with him out of action for 6 weeks.

tamil nadu batted first and got of to a terrible start, 2 - 25,saravanan was the only batsmen to make any dents in the nsw bowling attack weing run out for 57 (47). also to batt fairly well was T.Arasu who batted well for his 31(26). pick of the nsw bowlers was
G.McGrath 10 2 37 1
B.Lee 10 1 42 2
S.Warne 10 2 49 2
S.MacGill 10 4 25 2
S.Lee 10 0 57 1

tamil nadu finishing up with 9 - 216 could they defend it or would nsw choke with pressure.

the nsw battling line up would be solid as in a convincing 9 wicket win. c richards fell for 10 with the score @ 18 but b haddin and m bevan cruised to victory with 14 overs to spare. b haddin hitting 85* (111) and m bevan hitting 115* (90).
all of he bowlers for tamil nadu took a belting and the man of the match was m bevan.

a solid win by the boys however the loss of s macgill could prove costly with him sitting on the sidelines for 6 weeks, s warne may have to step up bigtime.

a few players will be training well to see who takes the spot for the all important vb cup game and to defend the vb cup (formely known as ca cup).
