His decision to play in the ICL means his ODI career is almost certainly over. A bit of a shame IMO, but worse things have happened.

I have never seen him play. He was supposed to be real good, an allrounder I think. Is it worth doing some research (if you call it that) and finding some videos of him?

Kemp was once an all-rounder but his bowling basically became little above part-time level, something suggests after he suffered an injury though I may be wrong about that, around about 2002 or 2003. To his credit, he developed his batting greatly and was for a time playing ODIs essentially as a specialist batsman.

His ODI career was relatively brief, but as I say, that's rather a shame, because he showed a fair amount of promise in that time.

Kempie was rendered useless once he gave up bowling and someone thought he was an international number five. Absolute clueless against spin but he did play one innings against India which was unbelievably good when South Africa were nigh on dead.

But like Nel, Kempie was only around come the end because he was Captain Smith’s mate.

He's capable of hitting the ball as hard as I've ever seen anyone hit it. A bit like Freddie Flintoff and has some of the same frailties but perhaps even more destructive when he gets going.

I'd be interested to hear the South African view of him. He's always looked an extremely dangerous player to me.

I was never really impressed with him. He was destructive, but not as consistent as someone like Gilchrist, let alone a McCullum, Cairns, Yuvraj etc etc. He was stifled by back injuries, so he didn't bowl all that often, with all that, there were others in SA who would of added more to the team than Kemp.
