A tale of two players. Alex Blackman, who will spend the first half of the season playing grade cricket following his suspension, smacked an unbeaten 248 against Demeza and a rather lacklustre Dwyer, who was forced to bowl 36 overs in the lack of alternatives. Then Campsfield declared midway through the second morning session, and a Gooljar assault followed. The veteran leg-spinner took match figures of fourteen for 164, and held the slog from Dwyer on 83, as the Braves completed a thorough rout.

Campsfield 441/4d (Blackman 248*)
Gofftown 193 (Jamaluddin 77; Gooljar 7/64) & 229 (Dwyer 83; Gooljar 7/100)

Campsfield Braves (17pts) beat Gofftown Tigers (0pts) by an innings and 19 runs
Men of the Match: A. J. Blackman and G. S. Gooljar (Campsfield Braves)

The Darters failed to press home their comfortable advantage, brought on by a blinder of an innings from Mark Hopgood, as the bowlers went off-colour in the second innings. Raghav's early strikes followed by incisive medium pace from Dawlat had brought the Sharks to a precarious position, trailing by 67 with five wickets in hand; an inspired 246-ball rearguard from Dharajia saved the draw, while Das at the other end drove home fifteen fours and three sixes on his way to a rather uncalled-for 124.

Davistow Darters 468 (Hopgood 185, Dawlat 92, Bayley 73, Read 41; Tariq 5/93)
Garven Island Sharks 313 (Bristow 85; Raghav 4/85, Ritchie 3/86) & 320/7 (f/o, Das 124*; Dawlat 3/61)

Davistow Darters (7pts) drew with Garven Island Sharks (6pts)
Man of the Match: M. R. Hopgood (Davistow Darters)

Nick Borcich started his season well enough, taking twelve for 97 as the Seahawks devoured the Jets in a brutal encounter at the CWBCC Stadium. None of the Jets seemed to have the required grit; after Stedman and Gaukroger added 61 for the second wicket, Clapham removed both, and Borcich closed it off with an inspired display of reverse swing. Gaurav Nayak then raced to 99 before running out his partner in chase of the hundred, and another Borcich-inspired collapse saw the Seahawks home easily.

Stedingham Jets 168 (Gaukroger 52; Borcich 5/50) & 163 (Gaukroger 33; Borcich 7/47)
Edfield Seahawks 298 (Nayak 99*; Reddlapalli 3/68, Bochat 3/109) & 54/0

Edfield Seahawks (18pts) beat Stedingham Jets (0pts) by ten wickets
Man of the Match: N. A. Borcich (Edfield Seahawks)

In the battle of the rookies at Simmons Park, the Frenzy triumphed with more consistent seam bowling, as both Alamgir Syed and Lee Payne impressed the onlookers. The two took thirteen wickets, and were the wreckers in chief as the Broncos slipped to 69 for seven; despite Rhynehart's valiant effort, Malone jnr. polished off the innings with two wickets, before hammering home the point with 51 unbeaten runs. Noteworthy was also the tying 111 from the Frenzy's Aseem Sharma.

Fitzworthingham Broncos 252 (Kerr 79; Payne 4/71, Syed 2/54, Sharma 2/60) & 116 (Ullungura 37; Syed 4/58, Payne 3/30, Malone jnr. 2/3)
Maddington Frenzy 265 (Sharma 111, Malone jnr. 54; Speirs 4/73, A Currie 3/47, E McNamara 3/60) & 105/3 (Malone jnr. 51*; Speirs 3/31)

Maddington Frenzy (14pts) beat Fitzworthingham Broncos (2pts) by seven wickets

Arunava Das and Blake Donald were dominant on the first day, sharing a stand of 178 as the Titans posted 406 against a bowling attack of three professionals; Fox escaped with a five-wicket-haul, largely due to being trusted with the thankful task of taking out the Titans' tail. McNamara and Thompson then outfoxed Nixonstown with patient bowling, getting them out for half the Titans' total after rearguards from Eccles (131 balls) and Adhikari (26 off 285). Dravid then led the successful draw effort, smacking 126 to avoid the innings defeat, before another stolid Adhikari innings prevented the win for Twybridge. In the nine remaining overs achieving 107 to win was impossible, despite Thompson clobbering five sixes for 38 unbeaten runs.

Twybridge Titans 406 (Donald 116, Joslin 77, Fox 70; Fox 5/91) & 61/0 (Thompson 38*, Das 23*)
Nixonstown Foxes 207 (Gundry 40; J McNamara 6/82, Thompson 2/33) & 300 (Dravid 126, Grierson 50; Thompson 5/77, Joslin 2/66, J McNamara 2/88)

Twybridge Titans (9pts) drew with Nixonstown Foxes (4pts)

An all-amateur Grooters side defeated Pickford despite the valiant efforts of George Roberts, whose leg-spin yielded 12 for 146 in friendly conditions at Pickford. Tariq Khan's eight wickets on the opposing side was enough for Robbham to take the win, though, with Pickford bowled out for 197 in chase of a challenging 213.

Greater Robbham de Grooters 180 (Roberts 7/54) & 263 (Buxton 74*, Tebbut 59, Jervis 54; Roberts 5/92, Kexing 4/67)
Pickford Panthers 231 (Jacob 65*; Tariq 3/65) & 197 (Tariq 5/53)

Greater Robbham de Grooters (13pts) beat Pickford Panthers (4pts) by 15 runs
Man of the Match: G. M. Roberts (Pickford Panthers)

So, if we aren't playing in case of byes any more, under what circumstances will we play? Only if left out of the dev league team?

Pretty much.

There's a couple of rounds where everyone's available to play - a one-day game in the third and fourth quarter break, and the final three rounds of the season.

Very disappointed with how my batting is going, although I'm not sure how my bowling got so potent.

Seahawks start the season with a win? What's going on there? :D

Good stuff though. Remained completely anonymous myself, but oh well.

for every team or ....... and how would you want it done.......i am happy to help if ya need
Just something documenting each CW player's individual scores and wicket hauls. It doesn't have to reflect who the scores came against, so it could literally be a list like:

RJ Malone
Bat: 56, 78, 95, 125, 0...etc.
Bowl: 2-45, 3-35, 2-1, 5-90...etc.

I'd need that updated in time for each of the following dates:
April 30
May 6
May 11
May 18
May 23
May 29
June 3

That's 7 updates over the course of the season. And once again, it'll need to be for every CW player.

You think you're up for it?

Demeza said he'd help, too. So it can be split.

Good stuff indeed. I also remained anonymous, but mainly because I didn't play.

Eyes not spreadsheets
Would it be an idea to either split it 5 ways (one from each dev team covering their own players) or alternatively 3 or 4 people covering 3 or 4 teams each?

thats sounds logical but will you get 5 ppl doing it ?
As long as they're tracking for their own team I think it's feasible.

I'm thinking it's a lot more work though, because each and every one has to go through 6 scorecards every round. Splitting it up by grade team reduces the amount of clicking and looking through players you don't need, at least.

I also made a spreadsheet for tracking which I sent to Trav - it basically does all the stat adjustments automatically. Unfortunately I don't have a copy here.
