Norwood's on Fire
Pleased with my own one-day form at the moment, and hopefully I'll be able to get myself back into FC contention. We are doing okay in the ODs, and as Matteh says, a decent second quarter could see us go into a strong position :)

Cricket Web Blue v Cricket Web Green
CWBCC Stadium

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

A series of daft strokes and a 4-wicket haul for Xavier Rose ensured a defeat for Cricket Web Blue at the hands of Cricket Web Green. The Greens successfully defended a total 229-7 in murky conditions, denying Sean Fuller a century and his team a much-needed win.

CW Green lost the toss and consequently batted first in wet conditions, after overnight rain. Fast bowler Demeza struggled to grip the ball early on, and the openers took toll on some loose bowling. The entry of Dunn into the attack tightened things up, but the Greens still raised the hundred in the third powerplay, and before the completion of the 20th over. Again Darren Dubb-Lynch was the main man at the top of the order. This time he scored 66 in an anchor role, allowing Lezama and Read to play with more freedom around him.

Down the order Rose scored just 6 from his first 20 balls, but romped into motion in the final stretch of the innings. He scored 30 from his last 23 balls, punishing May-Quinlan with particular severity. Paddy Gundry also played an important hand with 19 from 18 balls, and CW Green set a tricky target of 230 for the CW Blue chase. Dunn and Smith with superb, taking 5 wickets between them, whilst Cribb played a huge role in restricting the scoring in the middle overs.

In-form batsman Pete Young nicked to slip in the third over, then Mamesh on-drove uppishly into the hands of mid-on two balls later. As Ullungura played on for 4 in the following over, CW Blue were devastated at 13-3. Sean Fuller moved up the order to address the situation and arrest his sinking ship. Together with Cribb, he rebuilt the innings slowly and carefully with a partnership of 138. Both batsmen scored half-centuries, and Cribb got to 57 before he was out to the medium pace of Garven, so often the crusher of CW Blue dreams. Rob Bowen joined Fuller and the two progressed solidly in taking the score to 189, with the required run rate at 7.

It was that moment that Cameron chose to impact upon the game. He dismissed Bowen and Wilshere in the space of 3 balls, and set the innings into crumble mode at 189-6. May-Quinlan was caught at long-on for a duck early in the next over, and though Matt Smith kept hopes alive by smacking Rose overhead for a six, the Blue dream was all but dead when Fuller was given out for 99. Rose cashed in with a 4th wicket in the final over, sealing the result by 14 runs and ensuring he would win a deserved Man of the Match award.

Cricket Web Colts v Cricket Web Black
Pickford Reserve

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Continuing their trend of exciting cricket this season, Cricket Web Colts and Cricket Web Black were involved in a thriller that went down to the final over at the Pickford Reserve. Both teams competed exceptionally and matched each other blow for blow until the very end.

In perfect conditions, and with memories of their last crushing win over CW Colts, the Blacks chose to bat first on their home turf. The faced up to a sharp first couple of overs, though Stedman freed his arms to cut loose with a four and a six in Bochat's second over. Stedman continued to lean into the debutant, smacking two more fours to garnish his fourth over, 4-0-30-0 then. Wilson entered the attack and bowled a steady line and length, but it inspired Chaulk to get after Kyle Wright with a towering six over long-off. And Bochat simply could not escape the torment of Stedman, when the batsman picked him out at mid-off with a thumping drive that he could not hold on to. At the end of the third powerplay, all taken successively, CW Black had scored 109-0.

First blood fell to Nick Hancock. Pitching up, the allrounder trapped Chaulk in front of the stumps for 49. Stedman and Smith continued the positive play, taking 11 off a Hancock over, then the same number off McNamara's over that followed it. Tarick Weber was called into play just in time to dismiss Stedman for 79, as the batsman attempted to clear deep midwicket. The wicket slowed the momentum, allowing Bochat to return for an outstanding final spell. Young and raw, though he may be, Bochat bowled brilliantly in his second spell, taking 2 for 28 from 6 overs. And Nick Hancock returned to snare McMeekin and Donald, setting the innings back dramatically.

Only 50 runs came in the final 10 overs, though 255-6 posed a challenge for the Colts with Nath Patrick returning for the Blacks. And though Jasotharan darted out of the blocks with 15 from his first 9 balls, Patrick quickly clarified his importance to the Black attack. An expensive early spell also proved incisive, as Patrick removed Hopgood and Fitzsimmons before the end of the 5th over of the innings. The score was 46-2 after 5 overs.

Zac Gelman replaced Kexing Su and started with a wide. It was merely false notice to the spell he would produce. Gelman swung the ball heartily away from Jasotharan and Dan Smith caught it smartly at slip. A dangerous innings of 33 from 28 balls came to an end. The allrounder then followed up with the wicket of Bharat and went on to bowl an opening spell of 6-0-14-2. In the midst, James Malthus was tragically run out for 6, leaving the Colts struggling at 77-5.

Weber and Wilson were made to rebuild, and they did so very slowly. Over the next 13 overs only 45 runs were scored. When Weber looked to attack Richards, he was bowled for 31. The required run rate was 5.70, but as he did with the ball, Hancock was primed for a battle with the bat. The partnership for the seventh wicket grew to 62 from 75 balls. Hancock flicked the returning Gelman over square leg for six, then lofted Donald straight back overhead for another. The return of Kexing Su brought relief for the Blacks. He delivered a fiery yorker to deal with Wilson for 48. And when Hancock dragged back a slower ball from Arnold in the next over, the result looked certain to be in the court of Black. Hancock perished for 42 from 41 balls, outstanding under the circumstances, but perhaps not good enough. At 199-8, the result hardly looked in question.

Some 56 runs were needed from 64 balls. Thad Bochat and Jack McNamara were not prepared to relinquish hope. They played themselves in for the next few overs, as the requirement spiraled to 41 from 34. Bochat charged after Kexing Su and deposited him over cover, one bounce for four. He then shuffled across his stumps and paddled a full length ball for another boundary - 32 from 30. Patrick was sharp in allowing 5 from the 46th over, but Smith needed one more over from his fifth bowler. Rather than the previously ineffective spin of Donald, he turned to seam-bowling of Arnold. Bochat clubbed him over point for another boundary, highlighting an 11-run over.

Just 16 runs were needed from the final 18 balls when Gelman returned to peg back McNamara's offstump. Once again the crucial blow seemed to swing things back into favour of CW Black. Wright emerged as his team's last hope. Just one wicket intact, he dug out a yorker to give strike to Bochat. The young man boomed with confidence when he stepped down the wicket and lofted Gelman for a straight six. The Colts ultimately needed 7 from the final 2 overs. Kexing Su bowled an outstanding 49th over, allowing just one run and ensuring that Wright would have strike for the 50th.

Gelman's figures of 9-0-43-3 made for pleasant reading as he attempted to deny his former team the 6 runs needed from the final over. And in that pressure-filled moment, he snapped. A wide started the over, then Wright clipped the second ball away firmly. McMeekin was brilliant in the deep to keep the shot to a single, so Bochat faced up to Gelman with 4 needed from 4 balls. Knowing that CW Black needed just one more wicket, Gelman fired in a yorker. Bochat looked to flick the ball as it canoned into his pad. All of CW Black and indeed the majority of the spectators went up in appeal. The ball raced down to fine leg and cross the boundary as the umpire shook his head affirming a not out call.

Wright glanced at the umpire mid-run to see the decision, then pumped his fist in celebration. The Colts rushed onto the field to acclaim their hero Bochat, who had secured a classic 1-wicket win over CW Black.

BARNES OUT

I was sure Donald was MF. It says so on the website and in every record I have of him as a player. So, wtf?

EDIT: Yeah, it says he's a MF in the simming stats I was sent, so I assume it's just a typo and you meant to write Richards.

Purely a typo. Fear not. Everything appears to be in order in the databases that be.
