Grade Cricket Season XII

Mister Wright

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
I believe everyone is in grade cricket whenever they aren't playing a game for their first team.
Just to clarify. You only play grade if you haven't been selected by your side. If your dev league side has a bye and you played in the last game, you still sit out grade cricket.

Condolences for your loss David. Take your time and I look forward to reading the reports when you feel like writing again..

BTW: Am having a somewhat better season than last with some big scores and catches which is always pleasing to see. Roll on the rest of the season!!

Life goes on.

Edfield Seahawks vs Davistow Darters
@ CWBCC Stadium
MOTM: DK Rai
Nothing much to report, solid game by Rai in a slow match, leading to an insipid draw.
Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Gofftown Tigers vs Twybridge Titans
@ Gofftown Oval
MOTM: JP McNamara
Gofftown must've though they were a chance, until McNamara came out to bat. His blistering performance taking Twybridge out of trouble and ultimately lead them to a seemingly comfortable victory.
Scorecard

Greater Robbham de Grooters vs Garven Island Sharks
@ CW BAR Ground
MOTM: JA Finnegan
A dreary, lifeless batting performance by Garven Island as Robbham won by a comfortable innings & 1 run. The highlight of the match being Finnegan's 95*(103).
Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Maddington Frenzy vs Campsfield Braves
@ Bacchanalia Fields
MOTM: RD Dunn
Blackman carried the Campsfield batting with yet another century, as Maddington lost by a deplorable ten wickets. Dunn's 7/37 being the catalyst in the second innings, taking any chance of victory out of Maddington's grasp.
Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Pickford Panthers vs Nixonstown Foxes
@ Pickford Reserve
MOTM: GM Roberts
Despite Roberts' best efforts, Pickford still lost a tight encounter that was dominated by the bowling. Manan Shah impressed with the ball, whilst Dravid's 87(89) was the highlight of the bowling, as Nixonstown downed their old rivals.
Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Stedingham Jets vs Fitzworthingham Broncos
@ Jets Arena
MOTM: DD Hogarth
An incredible match ending in an incredible draw, as the Fitzworthingham players desperately tried to convine the umpires that there was still enough light to score 3 more runs. Berserk describes Hogarth's formidable batting performance throughout the game. 161(111) & 89(59) left the Stedingham bowlers bewildered, although one feels none of the bowlers enjoyed bowling on the road that was presented. A mammoth 1390 runs were totalled in what was to be a drawn game is impressive in anyones book. The only bowler who looked even remotely comfortable was Speirs, whose 12 wickets still came at the hefty price tag of 242 runs.

Hahah Jack, best tailender. What a beast of an innings.

Pretty lacklustre performance from the Seahawks there, but can't complain with a MOTM really.

Cheers for the stats DK

Haha, 87 from no. 10. Surely in line for an elevation! :D

Been a great grade season to this point from a personal, and team, point of view. Fourth in the wickets too. Probably my best season of Dev League cricket to this point, ITBT.

Titans looking like a pretty good outfit.

A couple of catches and 93 with the bat. Disappointing not to make 100 but gotta be happy with that!!

Good to see I'm on a few lists for the records....some more than once too!! :D

Thanks for all the above comments.

Corresponding Dev League Games

Edfield Seahawks vs Davistow Darters
@ Sanderston Ground
MOTM: TN McDonagh
Two centuries in the Davistow innings set up a chase of 250 for the Seahawks which was ultimately to prove too much. Borcich had a rare off day, managing only the one wicket which was a major factor in the game. Edfield looked to be in a decent position with Nayak & Herbert building a solid partnership, however once it was broken wickets tumbled, leaving Edfield all out for 202, Raghav & Ritchie both managing 3 wickets.

Gofftown Tigers vs Twybridge Titans
@ Gofftown Oval
MOTM: AS Das
The Titan machine rolled on, crushing Gofftown after a masterful 111 by Das set the Tigers 249 to win. They were not to prove capable of the task, Thampi's 81 off 143 being far too slow to give them a chance of victory.

Greater Robbham de Grooters vs Garven Island Sharks

@ CW BAR Ground
MOTM: Tariq Ali
Just dire.
Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Maddington Frenzy vs Campsfield Braves
@ Bacchanalia Fields
MOTM: PM Jacklin
When Rob Malone Jnr was run out by his partner, Maddington lost all hope of chasing a modest 232 by Campsfield. A rare failure from Blackman (47) being the only reason Maddington had a chance. Batting like snails seemed to be the order of the day from the majority of players.
Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Pickford Panthers vs Nixonstown Foxes
@ Pickford Reserve
MOTM: Manan Shah
Penetrative bowling by Manan Shash and Fox scuttled a hopeless Pickford for a measley 149, and the result of the game was never in doubt.
Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Stedingham Jets vs Fitzworthingham Broncos

@ Jets Arena
MOTM: DD Hogarth
Stedingham dropped to new levels of mediocrity, as Fitzworthingham convincingly demolished the Jets, all of the bowlers chipped in to limit Stedingham to a monster total of 141. There was some doubt about the ability of a team to chase such a large total, however Hogarth proved us wrong, as he plundered runs left, right & centre. The Broncos proved so dominant they managed to pass the total in 25.3 overs. And they said it couldn't be done.
