Round 14 - 3D - May 10

Davistow Darters v Pickford Panthers
in Heathridge Oval

Davistow pros: Ritchie
Pickford pros: Gough, Roberts, Su

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Despite an excellent bowling effort from Ritchie, the Black second-choice bowlers dominated the fixture at Heathridge Oval. Ritchie took six wickets in the first innings, but went crucially off the boil in the second, as only three run-outs kept the tally down to 195. Defending 207, Su and Gough got early breakthroughs including the vital wicket of Ritchie, and the Darters folded for 153 for the second innings in a row.

Pickford Panthers (16pts) beat Davistow Darters (3pts) by 51 runs
Man of the Match: Z. J. Ritchie (Davistow Darters)

Fitzworthingham Broncos v Edfield Seahawks
in Simmons Park

Fitzworthingham pros: Ullungura, Hogarth, Speirs, Kerr, Williams
Edfield pros: Rai, GN Nayak, Clapham

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Eighty overs. That was all it took to destroy the Seahawks' hopes. By that time Jack Ullungura had smashed thirty-seven fours and two sixes in an unbeaten 307, one of the most brutal knocks in CWLand history. Well supported by Hogarth and Speirs, Ullungura took on everyone, with only Rai offering some control.

Fitzworthingham Broncos (18pts) beat Edfield Seahawks (0pts) by an innings and 27 runs
Man of the Match: J. Ullungura (Fitzworthingham)

Garven Island Sharks v Stedingham Jets
in Clowich Stadium

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Garven Island pros: Fitzsimmons
Stedingham pros: +Mamesh, Stedman, Gaukroger

Though the Sharks had the service of Fitzsimmons, it was Tariq who impressed for the struggling hosts, gritting out 148 as the Sharks batted out over 130 overs for their 359. Fitzsimmons made 85 and 91 in his two innings, but a delayed declaration until 39 overs was too little to force victory.

Garven Island Sharks (7pts) drew with Stedingham Jets (5pts)
Man of the Match: Tariq Ali (Garven Island)

Gofftown Tigers v Maddington Frenzy
in Gofftown Oval

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Gofftown pros: Malthus, Dwyer, Thomas
Maddington pros: Sharma, McMeekin, Syed, May-Quinlan, Payne. Youth: Malone jnr.

May-Quinlan reduced the Tigers to a rabble, taking six for 37 in a stellar first spell, and Malone jnr. then blasted a century as Thomas was negotiated easily. The Test bowler had a nightmare for the Tigers, conceding 70 in nine overs, and barely repaired his efforts as he fought to a 46-run ninth-wicket partnership, eventually ended by Payne.

Maddington Frenzy (20pts) beat Gofftown Tigers (0pts) by an innings and 12 runs
Man of the Match: J. P. May-Quinlan (Maddington)

Nixonstown Foxes v Campsfield Braves
on Nixonstown Server

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Nixonstown pros: Dravid, Gray, Fox, Gundry, Shah
Campsfield pros: Blackman, Gooljar, Collins

Blackman's second-innings 112, with adequate support from Jahangir and McEwan, set Nixonstown a challenging 400 to win on home soil. The chase looked impossible from 20 for three, but there were impressive batting efforts from a number of players - Gray made 81, Gundry 58, while Fox raced to 42. Ultimately, Laeeq and Teisseire smashed 110 for the final wicket, but fell 25 runs short.

Campsfield Braves (16pts) beat Nixonstown Foxes (3pts) by 24 runs
Man of the Match: R. J. McEwan (Campsfield)

Twybridge Titans v Greater Robbham de Grooters
in Riverside

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Twybridge pros: Thompson, Das, Donald, Wilshere
Greater Robbham pros: Amir, Mitchell

Mat Mitchell took nine wickets as the Titans crashed down to earth in their own home ground, losing by an innings after a massive stand between Tariq and Broadbridge. Thompson was woefully ineffective, bowling 46 overs for little reward, while only Das managed to get going of the professional batsmen.

Greater Robbham de Grooters (16pts) beat Twybridge Titans (2pts) by an innings and 15 runs
Man of the Match: Tariq Khan (Greater Robbham)

Couldn't be more pleased with my bowling efforts this season, but the batting has been terrible. I could probably make the team as a specialist spinner down at #8 or something. Man of the Match feels hollow.

BARNES OUT
And FFS, I want to see how Donald bowls in Grade's longer form before throwing him in to Dev League at first change but he's not bowling? Can something be done about that, please.

Worst 9 over spell. Ugh.

Happy with my OD stats though. Hak, is my aggression in OD grade simming low? I think Dave did that last season and I'd be interested to know if thats still the case.

We didn't have OD last season, did we?

Anyway, as matches are computer simmed I can't do much with aggression.

Campsfield Braves v Davistow Darters
in PDV Dome

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Campsfield pros: Blackman, Gooljar, Dunn
Davistow pros: Ritchie

Blackman never got quite gong in a large PDV Dome, but nevertheless stuck around for a fine 117 against ineffective bowling. The Darters were in the game till the tenth over, then slipped to 68 for five after Ritchie was run out. Waheed and Ehsan couldn't quite score quickly enough, despite five gifting overs from Blackman.

Campsfield Braves (8pts) beat Davistow Darters (0pts) by 13 runs
Man of the Match: A. J. Blackman (Campsfield)

Edfield Seahawks v Garven Island Sharks
in Sanderston Ground

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Edfield pros: Rai, Bharat, GN Nayak, Clapham, MJ Smith

Edfield never quite got going, despite the stand of 116 between Bharat and Nayak for the third wicket, and they could only post 200 against the amateur attack. It was quickly made irrelevant, however, as nine batsmen were caught in a spectacular collapse to 95 for eight. Bristow and Shahzad held out, but Smith (three for 29) and Clapham (four for 24) had already reaped the rewards as the Seahawks enjoyed a rare one-day win.

Edfield Seahawks (9pts) beat Garven Island Sharks (0pts) by 36 runs
Man of the Match: K. R. Clapham (Edfield)

Greater Robbham de Grooters v Gofftown Tigers
in CW Bar Ground

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Greater Robbham pros: Amir, Mitchell
Gofftown pros: Malthus, Dwyer

Despite an early strike from Amir to remove Malthus, it wasn't until his second spell that the Tigers truly collapsed. Mahmood and Knight had added 104 when Amir returned, and he had three men lbw, one bowled and one caught to end with mindboggling returns of six for 29. He also contributed with 28 runs - yet de Grooters still lost, as Nash, Kipling and Knight stuck into their batting and they folded for a meagre 158.

Gofftown Tigers (10pts) beat Greater Robbham de Grooters (0pts) by 47 runs
Man of the Match: M. U. Amir (Greater Robbham)

Maddington Frenzy v Nixonstown Foxes
in Bacchanalia Fields

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Maddington pros: Sharma, McMeekin, Syed, Payne. Youth: Malone jnr.
Nixonstown pros: Dravid, Gray, Fox, Shah

Syed took five for 36, picking apart the Foxes, with Gray's brief interlude of 24 the highest score by a professional. Adhikari and Flanaghan managed to add 55 for the final wicket for a competitive total, but fine innings from Malone jnr. and McMeekin ensured the result was never in doubt.

Maddington Frenzy (10pts) beat Nixonstown Foxes (0pts) by eight wickets
Man of the Match: A. K. Syed (Maddington)

Pickford Panthers v Fitzworthingham Broncos
in Pickford Reserve

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Pickford pros: Gough, Roberts, Su
Fitzworthingham pros: Ullungura, Hogarth, Speirs, Williams, E McNamara

Su continued the trend of bowlers making early incisions, ending with three for 27 in a fine opening spell, and it was Ditchburn and Rhynehart who saved the Broncos after they had slipped to 94 for eight. They were less effective with the ball, giving up 56 in the first ten overs, and at 67 for nought the Panthers looked comfortable winners.

Then Williams and Ethan McNamara started taking wickets. 13 overs later, the Panthers were all out for 120 in one of the more remarkable one-day collapses in grade history, and the Broncos had won by 47 runs. Williams took four for 18, while McNamara five for 20, but Williams' wickets were all in the top five.

Fitzworthingham Broncos (10pts) beat Pickford Panthers (0pts) by 47 runs
Man of the Match: R. Williams (Fitzworthingham)

Stedingham Jets v Twybridge Titans
in Jets Arena

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Stedingham pros: Stedman, +Gaukroger
Twybridge pros: Thompson, Das, Donald, Wilshere, J McNamara, Forner

Blake Donald's hundred propelled Twybridge to a respectable total of 247 for four, and when Thompson got Stedman out for the first time in grade one-day this season, a win for the Titans seemed inevitable. The Jets agreed, falling to 59 for eight as Donald took five for 28; Bala and Pratap rebuilt, but all too late.

Twybridge Titans (11pts) beat Stedingham Jets (0pts) by 93 runs
Man of the Match: B. C. Donald (Twybridge)
