Glad to get some runs finally. Would have really liked to bat out the game though.

Mork, I haven't had the chance to update the grade tracker since the 9th.

Will give it a crack wednesday arvo when I have some time. Going to a concert tonight, and uni is breathing down my neck lately hence the delay.

Apologies.

Pitty on the loss for the Titans. Must say I'm impressed with my form with the bat. Very unexpected!!

Think that worked out quite well. :D Haha. Shame it ended in a draw, though.

Davistow Darters v Nixonstown Foxes
in Heathridge Oval

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Davistow pros: Ritchie
Nixonstown pros: Dravid, +Gray, Fox, Shah

A surprising 69 from Manan Shah made him the best batsman for the Foxes on the day, but Ritchie's efforts stood out, coupling six wickets with a pair of half-centuries.

Davistow Darters (5pts) drew with Nixonstown Foxes (5pts)
Man of the Match: Z. J. Ritchie (Davistow)

Fitzworthingham Broncos v Campsfield Braves
in Simmons Park

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Fitzworthingham pros: Ullungura, Hogarth, Kerr, Speirs, Williams, E McNamara
Campsfield pros: Blackman, Gooljar, Dunn

Blackman's 164 didn't help Campsfield take the lead, as Dunn and Gooljar weren't particularly threatening with the ball and the Broncos' professionals ran away to 183 for two before Dunks and McEwan started taking wickets. Defending a lead of 32, McNamara turned it on and celebrated figures of nine for 74; Gooljar's stonewalling effort wasn't enough, as Ullungura and Hogarth smashed their way to victory.

Fitzworthingham Broncos (15pts) beat Campsfield Braves (2pts) by nine wickets
Man of the Match: E. A. P. McNamara (Fitzworthingham)

Garven Island Sharks v Pickford Panthers
in Clowich Stadium

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Garven Island pros: Fitzsimmons
Pickford pros: Gough, Roberts, Su

An off-colour Fitzsimmons was trumped by an on-fire George Roberts, who captured ten wickets in a drawn game at Clowich. Bhattacharjee dragged on the Panthers' efforts, and their lead of 57 wasn't much to defend.

Pickford Panthers (7pts) drew with Garven Island Sharks (4pts)
Man of the Match: G. M. Roberts (Pickford)

Gofftown Tigers v Stedingham Jets
in Gofftown Oval

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Gofftown pros: Malthus, Thomas
Stedingham pros: Stedman, Gaukroger, Reddlapalli, Bennett

The Jets were favourites, but Malthus and Masterman put on 129 for the ninth wicket and denied an off-colour attack, before Thomas took five wickets. Bennett led a recovery with the bat, however, before Malthus made 83 to set the stage for a lunchtime declaration.

Malthus got a wicket right after lunch, but after that the game belonged to the Jets. Stedman smashed seven fours and three sixes in his 88, and despite rain driving the players off for an early tea, Gaukroger drove on towards a target she saw within her reach. A stunning 124 came to an end when she dragged Thampi onto her stumps - then it was up to Bennett and Innes to achieve the winning runs, which they did by four wickets to complete an excellent comeback.

Stedingham Jets (13pts) beat Gofftown Tigers (5pts) by four wickets
Player of the Match: M. Gaukroger (Stedingham)

Greater Robbham de Grooters v Maddington Frenzy
in CW Bar Ground

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Greater Robbham pros: Dobson, Amir, Mitchell
Maddington pros: McMeekin, Syed, Payne. Youth: Malone jnr.

Dobson was the only one to stand up to the Frenzy assault, though he recorded a second-innings duck. Syed was on fiery form, taking nine scalps, while Malone and McMeekin's stand of 163 virtually secured victory.

Maddington Frenzy (19pts) beat Greater Robbham de Grooters (0pts) by an innings and three runs
Man of the Match: C. R. McMeekin (Maddington)

Twybridge Titans v Edfield Seahawks
in Riverside

Scorecard

Edfield pros: Towns, Rai, GN Nayak, Clapham, MJ Smith

Rai and Clapham rescued Edfield in the first innings, where a stunning spell from Forner helped them crash to 47 for five. Wilshere nevertheless gave the Titans a 65-run advantage, before Donald took six wickets and ended the Edfield threat.

Twybridge Titans (16pts) beat Edfield Seahawks (1pt) by eight wickets
Man of the Match: B. L. Wilshere (Twybridge)

Round 18 - May 14

Davistow Darters v Nixonstown Foxes
in Heathridge Oval

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Davistow pros: Ritchie, Raghav
Nixonstown pros: Dravid, +Gray, Fox, Gundry, Shah

The Foxes never got off the mark after losing Prestwidge first ball, as Dravid ground about for 65 - still, there was a sense that the total of 199 for five should be enough with Fox, Shah and Gundry defending it. The Darters did slip to 38 for three, but Chapman and Ehsan looked to guide them home. However, Fox was of another opinion. In his first return spell of three overs, he took two for seven, but Raghav and Lawrence took the Foxes within nine runs after a Shah no-ball. Fox was brought back for his eighth, conceded a wide and an edged two before the match-winning hat-trick. All in all, he ended with the phenomenal figures of seven for 28.

Nixonstown Foxes (8pts) beat Davistow Darters (0pts) by five runs
Man of the Match: B. B. Fox (Nixonstown)

Fitzworthingham Broncos v Campsfield Braves
in Simmons Park

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Fitzworthingham pros: Ullungura, Arnold, Hogarth, Kerr, Speirs, Williams
Campsfield pros: Blackman, Gooljar, Collins

Fitzworthingham stuck to their bowling and limited Blackman to 47, bowled by Speirs, but the Braves nevertheless managed a competitive 223 for six after fine hitting from Jacklin and Dunks. However, Arnold and Hogarth in brutal form ended the Braves' challenge with a stunning 203-run second-wicket stand.

Fitzworthingham Broncos (10pts) beat Campsfield Braves (0pts) by nine wickets
Man of the Match: A. R. Arnold (Fitzworthingham)

Garven Island Sharks v Pickford Panthers
in Clowich Stadium

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Garven Island pros: Fitzsimmons
Pickford pros: Roberts, Su

It was a day for players to impress in unfamilar roles. For Garven Island, Simon Fitzsimmons took one for 44 with his medium pace, while George Roberts smashed two fours in an excellent 43 as the Panthers made it to 218 for eight. Fitzsimmons then blasted 37 to get the Sharks off to a good start, but Roberts nearly undid the good work with three wickets. However, despite Su's second spell yielding two wickets, Dharajia and Bristow eked across the line and the Sharks recorded their first win of the season.

Garven Island Sharks (8pts) beat Pickford Panthers (0pts) by three wickets
Man of the Match: A. P. A. Gregory (Garven Island)

Gofftown Tigers v Stedingham Jets
in Gofftown Oval

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Gofftown pros: Malthus, Dwyer, Thomas
Stedingham pros: Mamesh, +Gaukroger

The Jets never recovered from Thomas' probing opening spell, yielding nine runs and the wicket of Deodhar. After Gaukroger threw away her wicket while on 40, the Jets meandered to 197 for six, a wildly uncompetitive total. Chris Dwyer kept the run rate up enough, while Thomas slogged a bit at the end to end with a strike rate above 200.

Gofftown Tigers (9pts) beat Stedingham Jets (0pts)
Man of the Match: G. M. Thomas (Gofftown)

Greater Robbham de Grooters v Maddington Frenzy
in CW Bar Ground

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Greater Robbham pros: Amir, Mitchell
Maddington pros: Sharma, McMeekin, Syed, May-Quinlan, Payne. Youth: Malone jnr.

A combined bowling effort rattled de Grooters for 128, Tebbut top-scoring from number 10 with 19, while May-Quinlan (3/13), Payne (2/26) and Sharma (2/36) took wickets. Malone jnr. eased his way to the target by making 56 not out.

Maddington Frenzy (11pts) beat Greater Robbham de Grooters (0pts) by eight wickets
Man of the Match: J. P. May-Quinlan (Maddington)

Twybridge Titans v Edfield Seahawks
in Riverside

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Twybridge pros: Thompson, Das, Donald, Forner
Edfield pros: Rai, GN Nayak, Borcich

Nayak took four wickets to help the Seahawks recover from a brutal start by Arunava Das, who thumped six fours off the new ball in a quickfire 40 for the Titans. The flow was stemmed by Rai, whose ten overs went for 24, but the Titans still made a hefty 242 for nine in their innings. Running out the openers didn't help, and with five overs remaining the Seahawks required 47 with Borcich stuck on 11. The next thirteen deliveries yielded two fours and three sixes, as Das' forty-eighth over was taken for nineteen runs, and suddenly the equation was twelve off twelve. Donald recovered with a wicket, but Das was set to bowl the final over, and conceded eleven after a full toss was dispatched for six.

Edfield Seahawks (8pts) beat Twybridge Titans (0pts) by eight wickets
Man of the Match: N. A. Borcich (Edfield)

There'll be another OD round tomorrow; the final 3D round of the quarter will have to wait till Sunday afternoon because I've misplaced the files.

I'm just a little confused with how players are selected for grade cricket. Kerr, Fitzsimmons, Malthus & Thomas played in the Colts' last FC game, and have been selected for the next FC game. Unless of course these lot of matches were from the 14th.
