Considering we played the extra batsman, to get bowled out for 245 just isn't good enough.

Again our bowlers struggled to find wickets at the end, when they were really needed.

A better performance, but still a lot to work on.

So it does. 5 runs off the bat in the over, 9 runs in total off the over and your figures go up by 13 runs and Greens total increases by 13 runs.

Very interesting
Very interesting indeed... enough runs to change the outcome of the match, there (however, that would require them getting 0 off the last four balls, so I wouildn't make a big deal out of it). I figure there could be a good reason for it, but it would be nice to know if someone can advise on it.

Nah, Im not making a big deal about it. It is just pretty interesting and unusual and I mention it as it obviously disproves my original suggestion that they were leg-byes.

I was about to say that was possibly the worst throwaway comment ever from Stedman, surely he wasn't serious. :)

Cricket Web Green v Cricket Web Blue
PDV Dome

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

As Alex Crampton punched a half-volley from Xavier Rose through the covers, it was to a roar of great relief from the crowd, as Cricket Web Blue achieved a stunning victory over Cricket Web Green, chasing 376 on a difficult and deteriorated pitch at the PDV Dome.

Crampton scored the winning runs an over after Bryce Cunningham removed Rob Bowen and Liam Camps jr., leaving the Blues needing 3 runs with 3 wickets in hand. It was a dramatic win, but was set up by a stunning opening partnership between Pete Young and Thamba Mamesh. The latter found himself in magnificent form, striking the ball sweetly just in time for the visit of Bangladesh. He was was the dominant partner in a stand of 292. Some 124 runs were scored by the end of day four, but on the final day the Greens found even less response for the brilliance of the CW Blue openers.

First Mamesh reached his hundred from 129 balls, then Young scored his second ton of the game. It was a partnership so dominant that the unsettling feeling at its end was that a collapse was due. And the CW Blue middle order obliged. Of the numbers only Alex Crampton was steadfast, and thankfully too, as far as the Blues were concerned. That the eventual victory was only by 3 wickets was testament to both the loose play of the Blues and the excellence of the Green bowlers in their comeback, particularly the spinners. Indeed, Garven realized that the game would likely be won on the back of his champion spin bowler, and former Blue, Tom Halsey. Halsey ripped the ball from outside the batsmen's legstump and troubled no end, encouraging Garven to delay taking the new ball in search of wickets. The legspin pairing of Halsey and Gundry bowled CW Green back into the game at 357-5, but perhaps stayed on one over too long, as Crampton clobbered Gundry twice to midwicket - once for four, then for six. The new ball was prompted and brought the wickets of Bowen and Camps immediately, but it was too late, and Crampton eased into the winning stroke to finalize another clutch performance.

It was a hugely disappointing defeat for CW Green, given especially how they had dominated the majority of the game. Andrew Garven flayed the bowlers for 173 - a breathtaking display - but gathered support only from Martyn Corrin (65) in a total of 415 after CW Green were inserted under cloudy skies. In response Young was the only Blue batsman who pushed on, and though he could not match Garven's excellence, his was a fine 110 in a total of 308. The lead was slimmed to 107, with much respect in such regard going to Gareth Gooljar and Travis Demeza. Gooljar was extremely poor with the ball in the game, but his efforts with the bat were huge in the game's context.

CW Green met a far more difficult surface in their second turn at the crease. Though Dubb-Lynch was still able to score freely in a compact innings of 60, Demeza and Fuller were particularly sharp in sharing 8 wickets. The middle order faded, forcing Cunningham and Halsey into action down the order. The pairing put on 111 for the eighth wicket, a stand which looked to have placed the game safely for the Greens at the time. Gundry's quickfire 19 also helped, and CW Green finished on 268. Demeza's 5 for 116 improved his match haul to 10 for 230, becoming the second Blue player to take a 10-wicket haul this season. Cunningham was stranded short of a hundred, typically boisterous in reaching 89.

As unlikely as a target of 376 seemed, the CW Blue batsmen approached it with vigor, as well as a realization of the four sessions remaining in the game. There were no chances for CW Green on the evening of day four. Young and Mamesh commanded the bowling and split the gaps expertly. The Blues then entered the final day needing 252 runs from 90 overs with 10 wickets in hand. Game on. Barring an lbw shout by Gundry, the morning session was complete testimony to the efforts of CW Blue. They added a further 155 runs and batted the game firmly into the home corner. Late drama may have taken some shine off the victory, but crucially it was a win for a struggling Blue outfit.

Cricket Web Black v Cricket Web Colts
Fardin Qayyumi CC

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

A week after Cricket Web Black were held off from victory by Cricket Web Blue, Daniel Smith declared to give his team 157 overs to bowl out the Colts and gain crucial victory points. But once again, much to furstration of the captain, the CW Black bowlers were denied bravely and failed to complete a typically dominant performance.

Again proving his worth in the second innings, Will Kerr was unbeaten on 42 when the game came to a close. At his side was Jack McNamara, who scored 7 from the 18 balls he faced. The Colts batted the better part of five sessions, playing against the odds and achieving a well-deserved draw at the expense of an infuriated Black squad. When Smith set a target of 476 on the flat Fardin Qayyumi CC pitch, it was with near certainty that his bowlers would not be denied. And though the Colts did not chase the enormous target, their resilience on the fifth day was truly admirable, spurred on by an adoring home crowd.

The game was set up initially by the core batsmen of CW Black. Smith stole the show with an uncharacteristically patient hundred, but Andrew Cloete and Ian Markus contributed welcome half-centuries, thrilling the audience and grounding a total of 356. Down the order Nick Borcich continued to show the tricks he learned with the bat in the offseason, scoring 41 not out. On his poor days Greg Thomas is one of the Colts best performers, and though he was not always in good rhythm, he finished with 6 wickets, the mark of persistence and drive.

In their turn at the crease, the Colts responded in tepid fashion. Again all of the top order got starts, but none could break through against a very disciplined attack from CW Black. Borcich took 5 wickets, but Blake Donald was the most impressive, taking 3 for 50 on his return to the team. Like Borcich for Black, Nick Hancock resisted with the tail, and scored 44 of 211 all out. The welcome lead of 145 was grasped firmly by the Blacks on a pitch still good for batting. Again Smith and Cloete set the pace at the top, but this time Ash Chaulk was the centurion of note. Some 15 boundaries and a six highlighted a stunning unbeaten turn of 105 at the crease. CW Black afforded a declaration of 330-5 and tried their luck in 59 overs remaining on day four.

Pickup and Richards spun the ball sharply, so the Colts played in a reserved capacity and concentrated on survival with minimal of damage. The efforts paid off greatly, and CW Black could only purchase one wicket before the close. Though the Colts scored only 116 runs, it was a job well done, and the thrilling prospects of the final day left 360 runs in the game with at least 90 overs remaining. The century effort by Fitzsimmons may be championed by the casual viewer when considering the efforts of the day five, but in reality it was an achievement fueled by every member of the Colts lineup. Everyone scored double figures, bar the unbeaten McNamara, and five of the top six batted for more than 100 balls. All of the CW Black bowlers delivered more than 20 overs, and to no avail. Only 6 wickets came on the final day, despite a toil of 98 overs.
