Some good results for Black, but I`m not heaps happy about my penetration, and also not taking many wickets for CW Black. We got Blackmannnn.

EDIT: Also stoked with my fielding this season. Really enjoying it.

Cricket Web Red v Cricket Web Blue
PDV Dome

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Yet again Cricket Web Blue were involved in a heartpounding finish, as on this occasion Sean Fuller played a superb innings to ensure a dramatic 1-wicket win over Cricket Web Red. Fuller faced 268 balls and scored 58 not out to guide his team home in an absolute classic game of cricket.

The quality of cricket throughout the game was outstanding, and it would be easily forgiven to lose count of the number of clutch performance on show. Playing a rare first-class game, Reddlapalli combined with Robbins and Bennett in a steadfast resistance after CW Red slumped to 140-5 batting first. The batting allrounder proved his class in scoring 57, and was a central figure in an eventual score of 252 all out. The tormentor then was Travis Demeza, back in form and steaming in in front of his home crowd. He collected 5-75, whilst the recalled Ryan Dunn was also exceptional with 3 wickets.

The pedigree of the Blue opening batsmen was on display once more, in a canter to 91 for the first wicket. Young was snaffled at backward point off Watt. Dinu DeSilva then played a pleasant hand of 45, as the Blues continued to bat strongly and Mamesh was allowed a path to his second consecutive first-class hundred. From 187-1, CW Blue collapsed to 337 all out, but that is not to discredit the excellence Robert Cribb in the middle order. His form has been good at the worst of times, but in scoring 68 not out he proved utterly essential in gaining a lead of 85.

Such a difference was paramount in the greater context of the game. Again the Blue seamers applied themselves, and though it was a generally better batting performance from the Reds, they were again in trouble when Dauth was bowled for a classy 57. At that stage the lead was just 73 and only 4 wickets remained. Always the man for a revival, Marc Robbins rose to this challenge and was unbeaten on 69 at the end. But it was Sean Bennett who played the more memorable innings, perhaps even the best of his career. Some 7 boundaries were scored in his 52, and CW Red, primarily through a stand of 108 for the eighth wicket, managed 312 all out. Demeza collected 6 more wickets for a second consecutive 10-wicket haul in his rich vein of form.

Then chasing 228 to win, Young and DeSilva fell in quick succession for the shaky Blues. Camps promoted himself to arrest the slide, but got only to 13 when he was lbw to Robbins. Crampton looked sharp for 23, but he was part of a brace of wickets, as Watt shook the core of CW Blue's batting and set the total back at 123-6. Young Bowen and the veteran Fuller tried to address the situation, and did so in moving the score along to 189. Then Robbins produced a similar delivery to the one that plagued Camps earlier, removing Bowen at the crucial venture. Collins and Demeza played their parts in hanging around for a combined 68 deliveries, and a further 32 runs were knocked off the target.

Again Watt blasted life into the game, demolishing Demeza's stumps and bringing Dunn to the crease, following on from a clueless showing in the first innings. But of the next 4.3 overs, Dunn faced only 5 balls. Instead Fuller played the responsible hand and was worthy of great accolade by the innings end. Yet it was Dunn who got the winning run, turning Bennett away for a single to get off the mark and rush off the field in celebration.

Cricket Web Green v Cricket Web Black
Pickford Reserve

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

The trials of Dan Smith continued, as he was again frustrated in his team's failure to force victory from a dominant position. Twin half-centuries by Tom Halsey kept Cricket Web Green in the hunt, with the second of his efforts helping secure a drawn result against the odds at the Pickford Reserve.

The home team dominated practically throughout the game, aside from a brief period of uncertainty with the bat. Blake Donald continued his bowling resurgence by taking 5-93 in a Green total of 342 all out. All the bowlers impressed, and Kev Gough in particular was unlucky to end with 1-68 alone, after he bowled 37 largely testing overs. Three half-centurions formed the core of the CW Green score, as Lezama, Corrin and Halsey stuck in for hard-fought innings.

When it came the turn of CW Black at the crease, the watchful approach was abandoned and replaced instead with flambouyant strokeplay. Andrew Cloete rose as cream with an innings of true brilliance. The 27 fours and one six delighted the crowd, and a score of 231 from 317 balls hailed to the great batsman's heyday. For most of that innings he was supported by Ash Chaulk, who helped himself to another first-class hundred, scoring 167 in a partnership of 332. He entered at the fall of Blackman, who eased into two back foot boundaries, then erroneously padded away a Halsey googly.

In reaching 550 for 8 at their declaration, the Blacks led by 208 on first innings. And with 13 overs and a full session left on day four, expectations were high that they would finally complete a deserved win. But the weather intervened once more. Frequent interruptions marred the final session, until rain brought an early end to the day with CW Green on 83-3. The visitors still trailed by 125 runs with 7 wickets in hand at the start of the final day. Corrin was out early on day five, but Lezama held up the Blacks for the second time in the game, scoring another half-century. With him was Darren Dubb-Lynch, and CW Green reached lunch on 182-4.

Both batsmen were out early after lunch, and when Bryce Cunningham was caught at cover for a spirited 45, CW Black looked on top at tea, needing 3 wickets and facing a deficit of 66 runs. Gundry was bowled by Richards for 32, and Halsey played on fiercely to 74, then Gough was rewarded for his persistence with an lbw shout upheld. Richards ended the innings soon after, but by then only 11 overs remained in the game and a target of 148 was well out of reach.

Still, Smith and Arnold made the best of the situation and piled on 74 runs in 8.2 overs. Smith was caught behind attempting to sweep Halsey, but Arnold continued his thumping display and reached a fine half-century from only 26 balls. CW Black were denied at stumps, still dominant with 102-1 on the scoreboard.
