Cricket Web Blue took advantage of a Cricket Web Colts attack lacking the strike power of Greg Thomas, storming to a hard-fought victory by a margin of 125 runs. After a series of close results, the Blues were happy to be rewarded by a fairly comfortable margin, batting well first and applying pressure throughout the rest of the game.
The matchup pitted a Blue team missing both of its prolific openers, whilst the Colts looked significantly less potent without the likes of Butler and Thomas in the ranks. Thad Bochat entered the team to try to show his first-class worth, but went wicketless on a dead track and against a very organized Blue attack. Nick Hancock - 2 for 109 - was the best of the bowlers, and every batsman contributed to a CW Blue total of 519-5 declared. Jack Ullungura, Dinu DeSilva and Alex Crampton stroked fifties, and Rob Bowen was aggressive at the top with 48 from 42 balls. The part-time bowling of Fitzsimmons broke through with the wicket of Crampton, allowing Fuller entry against a worn out and worn down attack. He and Cribb played almost flawlessly in adding 180. Cribb was dropped on 96, then carried on to his fourth FC hundred of the season. He joined Fuller, who achieved his century earlier. At the declaration, Cribb was unbeaten on 125, adding to what has been a coming-of-age season for the former opener.
As expected, the Colts made use of the batting-friendly conditions, started by Fitzsimmons and Malthus, who put on 82 for the first wicket. The in-form of Demeza was battered and negated through the innings, taking 1-152, but Adam Collins bowled a tight searching line and length, whilst Fuller and Dunn also chipped in with some sharp bowling. Pooja Bharat played the defining knock of the innings - 88 from 151 balls - though Will Kerr and Dan Rai also looked in good touch with 49 and 52 respectively. Largely due to the batting of Rai, the Colts avoided the follow-on and decreased the deficit to 130 when they were all out for 389.
CW Blue were then left with less than two days to convert their large first innings lead to a positive result. They were tormented by the swinging red ball from Bochat early on, but the Colts could not maintain any genuine pressure. Again all the batsmen got set, then tended to fall to loose shots after doing so. And again Cribb stood out, following up his first innings heroics with a courageous 50. The Blues pushed on to 193 all out, and with 94 overs left in the game, the Colts batted again needing 324 to win. In 4 overs on the evening of day four, Collins and Demeza removed both openers to set up the victory charge.
It was no easy duty on day five, finishing off the Colts in front of their home crowd. Daniel Towns was in good form and scored 34, then fell to an ill-advised hook stroke in the final hour before lunch. Jasotharan punched his first ball through the covers for a boundary, and Camps utilized the same plan with which he had dismissed the batsman in the first innings. The field dropped back and sought to tie down and frustrate the Colts 'keeper, and eventually he spooned a catch to extra cover. As clutch performer Kerr played on to Demeza without scoring, the Blues were in control. And the wicket of Bharat for 42, just before the break, seemed to end any chance for the Colts.
After lunch Hancock and Rai fought passionately as the only batting forces remaining. Their resistance offered 77 runs for the 7th wicket. A Demeza slower ball, of all tricks, then stirred things up again. Hancock was caught for 27, then Rai missed a Camps offcutter to be lbw for 49. Demeza wrapped up the innings quickly after, finishing with 5 wickets. The win for the Blues is a crucial third in succession, bringing them back on track and looking impressive in the title race. For the Colts the result is a major disappointment as they look to make their pleasant start to the season count in silverware.

An inspired spell of bowling by Callum Thompson disrupted the Cricket Web Green second innings and led Cricket Web Red to a very impressive win amidst a tight title race. The Reds won by 7 wickets after outplaying the Greens in every department on a sporting pitch.
When the CW Green top order was flowing, everything seemed fine for the home fans. An opening stand of 90 gave way to a collapse to 156-4, but Nick Scott remained fluent at the crease and the home team still looked in good shape as they crossed the 200 mark with 6 wickets still intact. Starts were no guarantee of a proper score though, and Scott's 92 aside, no one outside of the openers looked like carrying on as required. CW Green were all out for 330 on the second morning - a mark of impatient batting.
The game was then very intriguingly set up by a very solid CW Red batting performance. Every player crossed 15, and though Kenny Dobson (72), David Kearsley (61) and Manju Reddlapalli (88) were the only half-centurions, it was a very impressive showing that accomplished 446 all out, and a lead of 116. Reddlapalli was particularly outstanding, oozing with class in his front foot play through the offside. As such, and due to a clever slower ball, he was unfortunate to miss out on a century. Also acquitting themselves impressively were Andy Cameron and Mat Mitchell, who took 4 wickets each.
Concerns for CW Green were immediately amplified in their second innings. Watt and Thompson tore through the top order with wickets of Malone, Lezama and Garven by 24-3. Again Scott looked in form, but was snaffled beautifully by Luff at short leg for 34. From there Dubb-Lynch was the best of the batsmen on either side. The right-hander played with great responsibility for his 51 of a total of 179 all out. Thompson ended with 5 for 38 in an outstanding allround match.
The Reds set out to chase 64 to win, and lost 3 wickets on the way there. Cameron and Mitchell were again on form, sharing the wickets to fall, but Chris Dwyer played emphatically for his 25 to ensure there was no slight on the CW Red dominance by game end.
