Martyn Corrin stroked a commanding hundred, but it was in vain, as Cricket Web Black held on for victory by 15 runs to continue their one-day dominance. The title already secured, the Blacks still played with great urgency, first scoring 276-6, then holding off a strong Cricket Web Green challenge to win.
Ian Markus and James Stedman kicked off the game in strong fashion with an attacking opening stand. Tom Halsey took 3-47 to pull the game back in the middle overs, but Gerard Armstrong scored 66 from 81 balls, hitting 8 fours and cementing the CW Black innings. He built an urgent partnership of 60 with Dan Smith (34). But one breakthrough brought two. First Bryce Cunningham found the edge of Armstrong's bat, then Corrin took a stunning catch to dismiss Smith an over later. Forner dropped Zac Gelman off Cunningham he had 2 runs, and the allrounder proceeded to punish the Greens for their mistake. First he lofted a Cunningham slower ball over long-off for six, then he pulled the pull past short fine leg to the boundary.
The partnership for the seventh wicket matured to 62 runs. Dave Richards scored 23 from 24 balls, while Gelman was sublime with 37 from 28 balls. CW Green were then left needing more than 5.50 runs per over to upset the Blacks. The openers struggled early on against the moving ball and the discipline of Kev Gough and Nath Patrick. Each new-ball bowler managed to drop a catch of his bowling, and each took a wicket in the early going. Gelman then chipped in with the wickets of Malone and Dubb-Lynch, and there looked no hope for CW Green at 84-4.
Partnerships with Andrew Garven and Ben Read were dominated by Corrin, and the runs continued to flow at his end. He swept Richards for a single - his 50th run from his 56th ball. But wickets still fell. Down the stretch, he and Cunningham hit the ball with some fury even in a seeming lost cause. The 49th over, bowled by Gelman, cost 13 runs, and Corrin hit two of the last 3 balls of the innings for boundaries, getting to his hundred with the last of them. A brilliant knock in a losing effort, Corrin will hardly forget this innings soon.

A startling collapse by Cricket Web Red resulted in defeat at the hands of Cricket Web Blue in a thrilling game on an excellent batting pitch. The Reds raced along at well over 6 runs per over for most of their innings, but lost wickets too regularly in a failed chase of the Blues' 293-6.
Robert Cribb was simply incredible for CW Blue. He only hit 10 fours in his innings, but in scoring 110 he only monopolized 85 balls, and added great impetus to the innings. Liam Camps jr. was allowed to play the steady hand at the other end, and was considerably slower (134 balls) in scoring his 93. At the death Dave Watt bowled with outstanding composure, but shoddy fielding (particularly poor catching) let CW Blue score with some freedom.
The Reds approached 294 with all the urgency required at this stage of the season. They were faced with some particularly poor bowling by CW Blue, though the fielding of Dinu DeSilva could not be faulted when he ran Dobson out for 2. Sean Bennett came to the crease and rose to the challenge immediately, belting a four and a six off Matt Smith. A weak slash from Luff presented a wicket to Dunn in the following over, and Sean Fuller took a stunning catch against Bennett off his own bowling. The captain took guard at 58-3, keen to play another stunning innings.
Moerk and Dauth elevated the scoring rate to 7.4, racing along against the unimpressive Blues. Camps gave Cribb the ball with creased brow, and the batting hero restored some control with his legbreaks. His persistence then paid off, as Dauth miscued a pull shot and skied a long-hop to mid-on. Later in the over Moerk took a boundary and then scampered between the wicket for 3 consecutive 2-run hustles. The required run rate was bordering on 4.5 when Moerk was adjudged caught behind, pushing at a Cribb topspinner. Replays suggested he did not hit the ball, and he walked off a disappointed man.
Initially Zac Ritchie and Chris Dwyer looked to have the game well in hand with the requirement so moderate. But the game swung dramatically in the space of 4 overs. Smith removed Ritchie for an organized 20, caught at the lone slip, then Camps utilized reverse swing to dismiss Nayak and Watt in a double-wicket maiden. It was a disappointingly simple task then that lay ahead of Smith, as he finished off the innings with the wickets of Clapham and Dwyer. In total the Reds lost 7 wickets for 63 runs in 14.4 overs, losing the game from a position of supreme dominance.
