Feel sorry for Mittal, we didn't give him much of a chance at anything. Didn't get a bowl and batted low. Though in a way that's good because quite a few people stood up to get us over the line. Good work

Dazzling strokeplay by David Kearsley rounded off a stunning late win for Cricket Web Red over Cricket Web Blue. The right-hander struck the ball with authority and hit 4 sixes and 11 fours in an unbeaten 126, that played a large role in the chase of 287 on the final day. It was a thoroughly professional effort by the Reds, and they ended an engaging contest with the authority of a 7-wicket win.
From the start there was a refreshing discipline on display by the Reds. Even Muhammad Amir found a probing line and length and bowled with decent economy as the visitors pressured their hosts on the opening day. For much of the day CW Blue fortunes were heaped on the shoulders of allrounder Liam Camps, and he responded with an innings of 92 in the middle order. Several batsmen got starts, but the persistence of CW Red paid great dividends, and they limited the score to 282 all out. Raghav was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 for 64 from 23 impressive overs.
The Reds began their innings early on day two. Demeza should have been off to a dream start, but he suffered a dropped catch and an lbw shout turned down in his first over. Instead the Blues had to wait until the second over for the first wicket, when Mørk was caught by Demeza for 1. It was a necessary early lift for CW Blue, but they could not push on with it. Jamee Gray entered with aggressive intentions and in supreme touch. Luff departed for a promising 29, a wicket that initiated the defining partnership of the game. Kearsley was similarly at ease upon his arrival at the crease. He was crucially dropped on 41, and looked on course for a century upon his demise for 78. By then the partnership was worth 151 and put CW Red right on top of proceedings.
It was the moment for a CW Blue fightback. Zac Ritchie (6) and James Robertson (0) came and went, though Gray showed no signs of wilting. A confident slog sweep against Sam Morris cleared the ropes at midwicket and completed an outstanding hundred. Chris Dwyer was the man to give desired support and scored 71 in a partnership of 104 for the sixth wicket. Gray stomped onward to 151, then was bowled by Popat against the pace of the game. Bennett pushed on with 38 and CW Red ended all out on 422. That meant a lead of 140 and left CW Blue with a lot of work to recover. One high point for CW Blue, however, was a rare 5-wicket haul for the ever-persistent Adam Collins.
CW Blue lost Pete Young for 1 at the start of their second turn, but some positive strokes by Stephen Young kept things relatively balanced. On 32 he attempted a shot too many and picked out Kennett with his mistimed hook shot. Cribb and Camps chipped away further at the deficit with a stand of 78, and it was reduced to 6 by the time the former was out. The vice-captain looked good for 59, but edged to slip on that score. Much depended again on Camps and the inexperienced Morris. Camps should have been dismissed for 40 if not for a drop by Amir. Then two balls raced away to the boundary to complete the over for a miserable Raghav. A tentative start gave way to more confidence as the total took competitive shape. The partnership reached the heights of 170, but after it was broken by Kennett, the Reds fought back to the box seat. Kennett continued in newly-discovered form and got Morris (77) and Crampton (10) to compete a 5-for.

Heartbreak at Fardin Qayyumi CC, where Cricket Web Colts were narrowly beaten by 1 wicket on the back of a Luke Ronchi ton. The Australian wicketkeeper smashed 105 from 110 balls to turn the match on its head and inspire an unlikely win. After the early work of Greg Thomas and Kyle Wright, Masters XI were in tatters at 29-4 in the final innings of the match, needing 286. Ronchi still played his natural game and first kept the game alive and then put his team into control with every flashy boundary. Wright hit back with the wickets of Warne and Henderson but ran out of steam, short of a completed job. Shane Bond did well enough to support Justin Kemp, who scored an unbeaten 41, and whipped Thomas to the boundary to complete the game. Thomas was left stranded on a 4-wicket haul, and a 9-for in the match.
Colts and the weather dominated the start of the game. Over the first two days only 140 overs were available and conditions ensured some movement for the bowlers. But the Colts put in a determined effort and scored 405-5 before Wright was forced to declare, with time in mind. But with Lara at the crease there was always likely to be a recovery. He did so to the tune of 143, and shared in a partnership of 132 with Ronchi, who gave warning of his prowess. After Lara was out, Ronchi added a further 124 with Thomas Odoyo (58) for company. The frustrated Colts finally wrapped the innings for 357, but led by just 48 at that stage.
Into the fourth day, time was of the essence for the Colts. They still pushed for a victory and perhaps that positive attitude came their undoing. Bond and Warne shared 8 wickets as a succession of poor shots allowed Masters XI back into the game. It took a big effort by Tarick Weber with the bat - 53 unbeaten - to lift the score and spirits and post a reasonable score of 237. That total looked likely to comfortably script victory for the Colts, particularly as Lara was struck in front of the stumps for 7. The pitch remained in decent shape, however, and Ronchi and Klusener were able to trust the bounce and played through the line regularly during their crucial partnership of 167. Late drama kept things interesting and accounted for several fingernails, but there was an air of inevitability and a definite sense that Masters XI deserved the win, when all was said and done.

Easy as you like, Cricket Web Black crushed Cricket Web Green by 9 wickets on the afternoon of day three. Captain Dan Smith (24) was the only casualty in the comfortable chase of 62 to win the game in the fourth innings.
Indeed, the contest was as good as over on the opening day, when CW Green crumbled for 119 after they were inserted by the CW Black. A rampant Nath Patrick took 5 wickets in his first 5 overs and set things off exceptionally for the hosts. The only real fight came from Gonzalez (47) in the middle order, and Patrick returned to take a 6th wicket, as the innings ended in the 33rd over. An embarrassed Mat Mitchell led his team on the field to try to hit back while the conditions were still good for bowlers. But they had to endure a partnership of 94 before both openers fell in quick succession. The Blacks went into the lead soon after, and while they were made to work for their runs, it was always clear that they were in control. Andrew Cloete, dropped on 14 by the wicketkeeper, topscored with 63 in the innings. Later on Ash Chaulk hit a positive 52 and the lead was 185 by the time the innings ended.
As expected CW Green fought hard to keep the match competitive, but the big guns failed to fire and CW Black inched toward the expected result. Martyn Corrin played a typically gritty innings of 74, and was not out by the time Donald took his 4th wicket, the 10th of the innings. Only 11 overs remained before lunch, so the Blacks had to curb their collective ambition and wait until the post-lunch session to scamper home.
