In a see-saw game, Cricket Web Green had the opportunity to catch hold of the finals berths, but instead had to see Cricket Web Black complete a phenomenal comeback to take a full-point victory and head back into the drivers' seat. A pair of half-centuries from Blake Donald was vital, but this was a team effort from the Dev League's superior franchise.
After batting first on a wicket with some demons, Cricket Web Green fans were surprised to learn their team not only batted respectably on the first day, but battered the Black bowlers. Only the second coming of Gough prevented a morning session entirely without wickets, as Scott and Malone smashed 134 for the first wicket; Garven continued in much the same rich vein after lunch, though Scott took over the role as dominant partner as he eased to an effortless hundred. Black recovered somewhat in the afternoon, and Heath Davis ripped out a pair with the new ball, but a belligerent 64 from Rose propelled the total to 508.
Smith and Cloete, however, were not daunted by the task at hand. Brought together by Forner's yorker to dismiss Forner, they were a class above the bowling on offer, leisurely taking runs whenever they were on offer. Cloete reached the century first, despite having had half an hour and fifty deliveries less to do so, and was also the first to succumb to a rash shot - Green's first wicket in four hours. An elated Raftery then had a toppie go through Smith's defences, before Corrin floored Burge to prevent Raftery's third wicket, but Green snared Burge and Chaulk to remain with a 200-run lead ahead of day three.
It took a session's work to pry out the last Black resistance, despite assistance from a new ball and the umpires, who gave Richards out caught off the pad. helped Green make fairly quick work of the Black tail, though Donald's 55 was a significant contribution, lifting Black's total to 430 and a mere 78-run deficit. With Scott, the first-innings centurion, succumbing to a return catch early on, Green needed a fightback from someone, and former captain Garven provided it with violent hitting. Seven boundaries led to a run-a-ball fifty, as Green made it to 112 for two in the 22 overs before tea, and Black already looked at chasing more than 200 on a dissembling Pickford wicket.
However, one of the finest bowlers to have on such a wicket is Dav Richards. Both Mamesh and Raftery were bamboozled, as Richards reaped three wickets in a marathon spell, before Heath Davis had Gonzalez caught at the wicket. Cunningham and Corrin threatened to take the game away from Black once more, the former having survived a chance off his first ball, but towards the end of the evening Burge found the footmarks and struck thrice in an over to leave Green without a leg to stand on. Davis took the final wicket, leaving Black with 345 in two days.

Ritchie improved on his first-innings performance with an unbroken 65 in the morning session, and despite the spinners taking out Smith and Cloete in quick succession, Black were reasonably well placed at 137 for two. At 198 for five, the odds had swung up considerably for the hosts, and when Garven plucked a ball from Chaulk's bat out of the air in the 53rd over, Green seemed to have earned the ascendancy.
However, Black have the finest allrounders in the land. Richards stepped up once more, fighting off Rose and Forner till tea, while Donald smashed Rose for six in the final over of the session to signal intent - just 93 runs remained, but equally, Green only needed to take four wickets.
Black were faced with plenty of bowling rotation, but Donald and Richards treated all comers with equal disdain. Only Raftery came genuinely close to snaring a wicket, when Forner floored Donald at mid on, but after both batsmen brought up their fifties with identical cover drives and a mere 32 remained for victory, Green fell flat. There were few more problems in assembling the runs, which the pair even managed before Green could pull out a new ball, and the trusting home fans could go home contented.

Colts completed a professional win from an unlikely position, rescued by their lower order and a second-innings vigil, which helped them overcome the rain to take third in the table.
The Masters batted first, and slid through Wright, who returned again and again thanks to interminable rain breaks. The first day was eventually cut down to 29 overs - on the second day, after early incisions, Klusener and Ronchi threatened to take the game away from the Colts with a pair of magnificent innings, but The two put on 121 for the fifth wicket, but the new ball, expertly supplied by Thomas and Wright, helped Colts limit the Masters to 389.
It proved vital. Irresponsible top order batting against the swinging ball provoked a slide to 158 for six, though Kerr played well to reach his fifty before lunch. When he was caught by Lara for 82, however, the Masters would have fancied their chances of a high lead - instead, Bond dropped Wright fifth ball, and was made to pay. Not even a new ball helped an off-colour Masters bowling outfit, as the clouds disappeared and the ninth-wicket partnership read 107. Klusener eventually ended it, after being sought to as seventh bowler, but the Masters' lead had been cut to 42, all too little.
For the second innings belonged to the Colts. Greg Thomas took two wickets with the new ball before stumps, but was also a threat with the older cherry, as he removed both Shiv Sundar Das and Justin Kemp. By then, the Masters had fallen to 162 for six, with no batsman really settling in against the Colts' attack; Odoyo provided brief diversion and some valuable runs, adding 48 for the final wicket with Henderson, but eventually became the final flower in Thomas' five-wicket-bouquet.
Colts chased 276 in four and a half sessions, a tricky task at the best of times. Yet, today was a day for chasing teams; like Black, they were rarely troubled, though the wrecker in chief, Rai, was indubitably lbw on 20. Thanking the umpires, he had little further trouble en route to a magnificent hundred - he slowed down considerably on the fifth day, giving no quarter to hard-working bowlers, and if rain had ruined the finish he might have been lambasted for his strike rate. The vapour stayed airborne, however, and Rai and Butler fought off the new ball to complete an eight-wicket victory and keep the challenge for the title alive.

Blue are back. That was the conclusion after Blue had humbled, embarrassed, and whipped a feeble Red side into submission after three gruelling days of cricket for the Nixonstown faithful. The bowling figures for Muhammad Amir - 33-0-217-2 - should reveal the magnitude of the embarrassment. Stephen Young was imperious, Sam Morris and Rob Bowen exploited holes after the top order had done the hard work, and Blue then followed up with a professional batting effort against a side not even fighting.
Only Raghav was a threat on the first day, and not even he was consistent, though he did take two top order wickets. It would have been acceptable had anyone else chipped in. Instead, wides, no-balls, and extras flurried, along with squarely thumped sixes from Young's bat - he reached 63 by lunch, was dropped on 93, and went on to stamp his name on the match. By the end of the first day, he had gobsmacked the crowd with 215 runs, out of a total of 364 for four.
A dejected Red side could only watch as Blue completed a professional performance. Mørk finally held a catch off Young on 256 - but by then, Bowen and Morris could intrigue the crowd with hits. On the fine autumn day, the two added 121 for the sixth wicket, taking the total past 500, as Bowen smashed 17 boundaries in an incredible 137 - Morris remained unbeaten, grabbing 118 runs to help Blue amass 756.
The result was a foregone conclusion, but Red could at least have tried to bat out the overs. Instead, Matt Luff's 88-ball knock was the longest - he slashed the bowling economy rates to pieces, with nineteen boundaries and 131 runs, but Demeza didn't care as he charged in repeatedly for wickets. No other player passed 30 for Red, five were out in single figures, and spinner Popat rejoiced on a wicket spitting demons. In the second innings, Manan Shah tormented the top order, and Popat had the honour of shining off a polished performance and give Blue second spot in an increasingly close table.

Ugh...that just sucks...Come on guys, buck up. Let's not lose our momentum, we've got a chance to make the FC Final. I believe that's my first FC hundred, quite stoked with that, but seriously though, we need to start getting back into the winning habit.

naaah, was only just clipping the top of leg, can't give those. Enjoyed that game though, good win for us, another 100 partnership from me and Bosco and a good score in the second dig, great stuff. Table set up very nicely as well.
Agree with this, all the injuries this season have been very harsh. Especially for SJS, that's just ridiculous
