Whatever it takes!!!
Well, my strike rate did improve, but I squandered yet another start. Will I never get a decent score? :(

AT least I took those 3 catches. :)

Cricket Web Colts vs Cricket Web Green
at the CWBCC Stadium

Nick Hancock and Dan Rai put on a crucial 40 runs for the seventh wicket, as the Colts crept home to a 3-wicket win over the Greens in a lowscoring affair. No team got past 200 in the match, and the Colts held their nerve to chase a modest 160 on a difficult pitch.

CW Green did well to reach even that many, largely due to the efforts of Bryce Cunningham. The allrounder hit 14 fours and 2 sixes in a knock of 92, rescuing his team from 59/7 to 174 all out. The innings allowed the match to remain competitive, but the solid Colts middle order had the last say.

Daniel Towns played the anchor innings that allowed Burke, Jasotharan and Fensome to play with freedom, but it was the Hancock-Rai stand that pushed the team home.

Garven chose to bat first and received a pleasant start from Malone and Singh. However, the innings quickly crumbled upon the demise of the 108-run second wicket partnership. Hancock and Wright shared 7 wickets and the collapse saw 111/1 become 178 all out.

Buoyed by their bowlers, the Colts got to a comfortable 122/2 before they too fell to pieces. Four of the five Green bowlers took at least 2 wickets, and just 15 runs stood between the two teams at the end of the first innings. In the face of another burst from the Colts seamers, the Greens were set on the backfoot once more. Cunningham gave some solace, but it was short-lived and ineffective in the final say.

Cricket Web Red vs Cricket Web Blue
at the PDV Dome

Liam Camps was left shaking his head at the batting performance of his team, as the Reds ruled the PDV Dome in another lowscoring affair. The Blues managed scores of 141 and 163 in the match, and though the bowlers did well to restrict the Reds to 413 over two innings, the gutless showing of the batsmen told a tale of defeat by 109 runs.

Kenny Dobson was the man of the moment in the first innings, scoring 81 in a disappointing 205 all out after the Reds batted first. His efforts were ultimately backed up by Rich Edmunds' 4-wicket haul, but not before CW Blue got to 125/3 to ensure a dramatic collapse of 7 wickets for 16 runs.

Devastated and ashamed in front of their home crowd, the Blues did well to fight back with the ball. Once again Haakon Moerk came up big, and was required to hit another couple of sixes in a knock of 72. With Jamee Gray giving brave support, the Red total of 208 meant a chase of 273 on an evidently horrific pitch for batsmen.

The Blues made it look worse than it actually was, and wobbled at 28/3, then 59/4. To ensure consistency, they recovered to a score of 132/4, then lost the final 6 wickets for 31 runs. David Kennett was the main man in the demolition, ripping out 5 wickets, including the first 3 to fall.

Great win to the Colts. Good to see Hancock back on the horse after a disappointing Youth series (by his high standards).

Lets hope the batsmen can give the bowlers a bit more to work with next game ;)

So relieved to have a good game. Excellent bowling conditions were very encouraging, and all of us contributed. The Red batsmen were just too good, and Dobson and Moerk were superb.

Almost Blue.

Very happy to see another win for the Colts. Not great from a batsman's point of view but delighted with victory nonetheless. Difficult game, though, the pitch really didn't do us batsmen any favours. Glad I could stick around as long as I did on it, and good job to those that made the runs for victory - Burke, Nayak, Hancock, Rai, etc.
