The Colts were utterly, truly and woefully routed on their trip to Pickford, where simply nothing went right. Kyle Wright escaped with some respectability, taking six for 160, but the spinners went wicketless on the supposed spinners' paradise, before the wicket turned unplayable on the third day as balls kept low and high at various points.
Blacks' innings was a masterclass. Or, rather, 11 masterclasses, though helped in no small part by utterly toothless bowling. Fitzsimmons led from the front, not discouraged when opening partner Smith went for 16: their partnership of 23 was the third-smallest of the innings. Blackman and Chaulk set the tone with fine innings, while Law, Thompson and Wilson all contributed strokes at a rapid rate to secure full bonus points. In the end, Hoy and Pickup had fun, as the ginger No. 11 continues his stellar batting season.
Colts nourished some hope of an unlikely draw at 131 for three: from there on, their batting was hardly worthy of first class status in Bangladesh. Edges were feathered to all corners, Hancock padded up to one he shouldn't have touched and was wrongly given out, Rai nicked a widish flighted legspinner behind, Wright was idiotically run out, and that was just the first innings. Following on a mammoth 481 behind, they somehow contrived to make it even worse. Pickup and Richards feasted in variation, but by now the wicket had become completely farcical; balls spat this way and that, and the Colts' batsmen were bamboozled into four lbws. In the end, they capitulated for 80, and suffered one of the heaviest losses in Dev League history.

Reds' established players had an off-match for the most part - excepting the unwavering Markus - but Red still eked out a relatively comfortable victory over Green, keeping in the hunt for the first-class league title.
David Kennett bowled exquisitely with the new ball after Green had chosen to bat, and reduced Green to nine for three, but Rodgie and Garven built up a solid partnership, and it was only when Ritchie's off breaks came to the fore that the innings truly broke apart. He took three key wickets for 31, and despite Garven's fine 86, he feathered an edge to Kearsley in the slips and Green were all out for 179.
In reply, Red started well enough, Mamesh building good stands with Kearsley and Markus. However, when Markus got out at 166 for five, the game looked like approaching parity. However, Ritchie was not to have anything of it. He tormented the spinners with cuts that sliced the field and the bowlers' minds, he ran singles like Maxwell's Maniac, and he hoiked big sixes when the balls deserved it. In 79 balls, he had brought up his century - of course, shortly after tea, he inside edged Cunningham for 102, and the tail rolled over feebly, but the damage had been done.
Though Malone and Scott provided good runs, Reddlapalli proved useful as first change, taking three wickets to send Green further down the path to defeat, and Ritchie struck thrice more to leave Green in the mire at 176 for eight. Captain Watt sent himself into the heart of battle to finish them off: instead, Cameron and Mitchell provided dogged resistance, and it was a freaky run out of Dravid, on 92, which gave Red their final wicket.
Set 117 to win, Red got into trouble against the new ball, but the Markus-Robbins partnership once again got them comfortably over the line.
