Tough loss guys, well batted Dravid in the second. Good to see Mitchell take a few wickets too :) Lets pick ourselves up and look to find form again against the yellows tomorrow :)

Red kept in the one-day chase after a stellar partnership between Ian Markus and rookie Matthew Luff, who kept the Red tradition of huge opening partnerships alive despite the departure of Stedman. The two batted almost through the game, Luff eventually popping up a catch off Halsey's bowling to be cruelly denied of his century, but Markus went on to smash an unbeaten 151 off hapless Blue bowling.

Halsey and de Silva did not up the tempo against a testing new ball spell, but Fuller was on fire and played a stunning one-day knock from number four. With a little more batting support, he could have made it, as the Red bowling back-up struggled with line and length; however, Dave Watt was brought back to nab the crucial wicket of Young, and the tail wobbled over feebly to Robbins. The 23-run win still leaves Reds in third place, however, their lack of bonus points hurting them.

Cricket Web Red 265 for two (50 overs, Markus 151*, Luff 98; Halsey 1/51)
Cricket Web Blue 243 all out (49.2 overs, Fuller 99; Robbins 4/39, Clapham 3/46)
Cricket Web Red won by 22 runs
Points: Red 4, Blue 1
Man of the Match: I. Markus

In front of elated home fans, Colts successfully defended a rather low target, after their main aggressor Jasotharan smashed an early drive to Cunningham's outstretched hand at point. Towns top-scoring with a grinding 51, while Malthus-Howell, Pitt, Das and Bharat all had solid contributions. However, Green choked the runs well, and 212 did not look imposing with Malone and Garven batting at 147 for one.

Trying to up the tempo against McNamara, however, went bizarrely wrong. The spinners found plenty of grip and turn on a dry wicket, which allowed them to beat the bat more often than not, and McNamara's double strike was the highlight of an excellent spell of 10-2-19-2, which won him Man of the Match. Scott and Volavola hit at a woefully slow rate against the spinners, before Patrick and Wright took the wickets necessary to slow the pace down at the end, securing a 10-run victory.

Cricket Web Colts 211 for six (50 overs; Towns 51; Goughy 3/35)
Cricket Web Green 201 for eight (50 overs; Malone 71; Wright 3/52, McNamara 2/19)
Cricket Web Colts won by 10 runs
Points: Colts 4, Green 1
Man of the Match: J. P. McNamara

Table: Green 17pts (P5 W3 L2, +0.92), Red 16pts (P5 W4 L1, +0.03), Blue 16pts (P5 W3 L2, +0.49), Colts 10pts (P5 W2 L3, -0.35), Black 1pt (P4 L4, -1.33)

Well done Red, great innings Marcus and Luff. Good to see I contributed my valuable time at the non-strikers end. Need some more bonus points if we want to get on top though guys.

Happy enough with that, although it would be nice for us to make a larger score rather than relying on our bowlers so much.

Good performances by Towns, Malthus-Howell, Gelman and in particular McNamara.

As Daniel said would be nice to have a bigger score, but a wonderful performance from our bowlers.

Who's laughing now?

Batting 50 overs and falling short chasing 212 is probably not good enough.

We need to leave it all on the field. It was a game we could/should have won and by doing so made it a great start to the season in OD cricket.

Unlucky, Volavola. First game I believe and obviously nervous but may need to call for the heavy bat after scoring 11 off 38 balls ;)
