Cricket Web Red vs Cricket Web Black
at the Pickford Reserve

Scorecard
Commentary

Chris Butler continued his fine trot of form and played the clear innings of the game, as the Blacks crushed the Reds by 8 wickets. On a pitch that never allowed the batsmen to look totally certain, Butler scored 121 in the CW Black first innings of 308 and set up the commanding win.

The Reds had been inserted by Neil Pickup on the opening day, and once again Kexing Su bowled with impressive impact. The seamer swung the ball at great pace and shattered the stumps of both Red openers. From then the slide was incredible. Aside from the batting of Dauth, there was little to celebrate in a total of 178 all out, where the last wicket produced 39 runs.

The Blacks then climbed to a lead of 130 - a lead that would have been much more had it not been for the heroics of David Kennett on the third morning. He finised with 7 wickets in the innings and kept his team in with some hope.

But that hope was quickly stolen away once more. Hoy and Kexing Su accounted for the openers quickly once more, and the Reds were in dire straits at 6-2. Dauth and Kearsley looked to stage a revival, but upon their demise, the innings crumbled once more. Only Reddlapalli showed any spunk down the order, and a total of 182 was never going to be enough.

Even as Simon Fitzsimmons played back to Kennett for a duck in the final innings of the game, the Blacks hardly looked perturbed. Daniel Smith played positively and impressively, and for the second consecutive game, Butler was there at the end, guiding CW Black home.

Cricket Web Blue vs Cricket Web Green
at the CWBCC Stadium

Scorecard
Commentary

Anthony Lezama battled to his fifth first-class hundred, but could not save CW Green from defeat by 143 runs at the CWBCC Stadium. The Greens faltered chasing a massive target of 395 in their fourth innings.

Liam Camps won the toss and chose to bat first earlier on, then lost his offstump to Xavier Rose. It was a keen start for the Greens, but they could not maintain the intensity, and CW Blue recovered from 106-4 to post a highly competitive 335 all out. The score was largely due to the efforts of Pete Young and Alex Crampton, who etched 109 and 90 respectively.

CW Green could not find such brilliant individual efforts, though Nitin Dravid did threaten before his demise. Instead they crumbled for 172 all out, surrendering 163 runs to the Blues.

Dinu DeSilva replaced Camps at the top of the order the second time around, but could do little better, and CW Green pushed back to have the Blues 30-2. A Brendon Goff innings of 92 and solid contributions from Cloete and Fuller, and the game had swung decisively the way of CW Blue.
