Its gonna start on may....My assumption is its gonna be a clean sweep for the English both one day and test, and many Sri Lankan players being dropped after the tour.

Not in the ODIs it won't. We suck. :(

But yeah, we'll win the Tests. :p

You might suck , but we suck more

So you'll win both in a clean white wash .

Murali will continue to struggle and our batsman will be all out for very low scores in seamy English conditions. Freddy could possibly do it single handedly even. First by bowling SL out under 100 :) then outscoring the SL team score by scoring a century or even a double Century .

And It will be made easier still if Harper, Davis or Darrell Hair are the Umpires.

is it true that Atapattu is never gonna be able to play cricket again because of his back injury ???

Really Bangladesh beating us in one of the ODIs was not a fluke, we are on a downward spiral that doesn't look like stopping anytime soon.

Wonder what the England side for the First test will be? Looks like Vaughan and Giles will miss out, I reckon they'll keep Fred as skipper over Tresco now, though that'd remain to be seen. I reckon it'll be something like this

Trescothick
Strauss
Bell
Pietersen
Collingwood
Flintoff*
G Jones+
Udal?
Hoggard
Harmison
S.Jones if fit, otherwise, Anderson

I'd say probably something like that - it will indeed be interesting to see who gains the captaincy out of Trescothick and Flintoff.
Clearly, Giles is never going to be fit and it currently looks extremely unlikely Vaughan will be.
I'd be surprised if Jones wasn't, though.
I hope and pray that Udal won't be selected against good players of spin on what's extremely unlikely to be a turning pitch.
Anderson has to come into serious consideration if he starts the season well.

We did in 2002, too - SL still somehow managed to lose 2 out of 3 (albeit 1 was a rain-reduced affair) to us.
SL have a way of making the simplest of ODI tasks difficult.
In any case - the ODI side starting next summer is at least likely to be a bit better than the one that is currently getting the treatment.
In that hopefully we'll at least have seen the last of Prior, and hopefully Mahmood too.

I would think:

Cook
Trescothick
Strauss
Bell
Pietersen
Flintoff*
G Jones+
Pluckett
Hoggard
Harmison
Monty

I think this side will smash us the most and force our selectors to make some long awaited changes.

What changes can Sri Lanka make, though? I've done a bit of research into the SL setup over the last few weeks as part of CW's preview coverage of WC 2007, and really, what backup is there? Can you really go back to the likes of Kandamby, Gunawardene, Mubarak...?

No only really Daniel, Vandort or Kappa deserve a run when its comes to batting.

Spinners there are a few decent spinners in Weerakoon, Hearth and Suraj but no one really look world class maybe Suraj, but only in a couple season.

When it comes to fast bowlers Prasad deserves a run infront of Dilhara at least.

But as you say the depth isn't there. :(

I guess Sri Lanka has no choice but to go to Mubarak, Vandort, Ian Daniels ect.. But they are not even close to international standards. specially they are not ready to play in cold English conditions. I hope they will take a experienced side..by saying that Sri Lanka does not have any experience on the bench. atleast Dilshan, Gunawardena, Arnold has SOME experience. I think its wiser to take such players instead of Mubarak, Vandort, Ian Daniels. Maybe Mubarak is an exeption (since he played moderately well in Ausie). Sri Lanka's Test team should look like this

Sangakkara
Tharanga
J'dena
Samaraweera
Mubarak / Gunawardena
Dilshan / Arnold
Maharoof
Vass
Kulasekara
Lasith Malinga / Ruchira (if not injured)
Murali

IMO any paceman deserves a run before Dilhara Fernando..
Have you seen some of the other seam bowling option, Ian Daniel is playing as a medium pace all rounder for SL'A'. But in saying that he plays in that role cus they think he could play as that third seamer and a specialist batsmen, rather then have Maharoof and have one less specialist batsmen.

IF and i mean if Mubarak or Gunawardene play then they will open the batting. But considering Vandort played against Bangladesh and Daniel was added to the sqaud against Pakistan, then you would think one of them will get picked.

Mubarak shold not open the innings in England..he will fail. Tharanga has a better chance of surviving the new ball. I guess Daniels deserves a chance to play...but our stupid selectors didnt give him a game during the Pakistan tour. I hope they wont drop him suddenly to play England against Flintoff and the gang. They should have tried him out for the Pak series first.

Gunawardena's case i donno if he is selected or in the pool...do u ? Atapattu's loss will be very obvious during this series... Sri Lanka will struggle alot. hope England will play with some new faces to make the contest less one sided.

Gunawardena did not make the A Squad so i don't think so, recently his only made A sides for OD matches, so i don't think he is a Test option. When it comes to Mubrak would he do any better in the middle order, his just not up to International Cricket.

I'm totally against sanga opening. he may think he can do everything but the fact is he can't. Vandort should open with tharanga. niether mubarak or gunawardena should make the team.
so my team:
Vandort
tharanga
atapattu
sangakkara
mahela
samaraweera
dilshan
maharoof
vaas
malinga
murali
