I used to look forward hugely to this event but that was when we were allowed to vote for anyone we wanted and not just one name from a short list approved by the BBC.

Not watched it for years now. I saw on the news, though, that Doddie Weir received a well deserved accolade.

When was the last time that someone actually born in England won the main award?

You'd have thought Steve Smith would have won this, but tbf it's a big effort from Stokes, who quite frankly is lucky he wasn't watching proceedings from a cell in Pentonville Road.

Well deserved trophy for Ben Stokes, he made the impossible become possible! For us Cricket lovers, this was a dream night! But how come we don't have a footbal player in the top three?

1st - Ben Stokes
2nd - Lewis Hamilton
3rd - Dina Asher-Smith

He was found not guilty, quite right too. Exceptional sportsmen should be above the law.

She'd definitely have made the short list. The BBC can't stop talking about her, even after she got knocked out of the tournament.

Surely Rashford wins this year?
The BBC would have to shortlist him, which may not happen as his isn't really a sporting achievement.
But as Fibberty says, I don't know how they will come up with a shortlist as there's no sport happening. Maybe the event won't happen this year.

I think based on what has happened so far this year Tyson Fury would be in contention anyway after his victory over Wilder in February.
