Agreed. You can argue that a batsman should just go out and do the job regardless of how close to a break/stumps it is. The problem is if a guy doesn't want to go out there so much of batting is mental that its a bad idea to make them go out.

Yep. Its quite clear a batsman doesn't mind going out there 5 minutes before lunch compared to 5 minutes before stumps. Batsmen are human (except Kallis who was a cyborg) and humans can be irrational.

but yeah the idea of specialist batting positions is more and more crazy to me, but cricket is nuts
