One good thing for all non Brits, we won't do anywhere near as good next time in Rio.

Cycling,Sailing and Rowing will do well but other than that nothing will come near this year.

I wonder how many people will really care too much about that though. I mean, it could be like last year, when we thrashed India in the home test series. Nobody gave a crap about the ODI series defeat in India which followed later on. A great many people don't give two hoots about most Olympic sports anyway, the only reason so many people are jovial about it is because it's all taking place in the UK.

If it's anything like Australia, then there will be a honeymoon period afterwards in the next Games anyway. Those that were trying to make it for their home games, and just missed out, will be sprouting up. Those in their prime will have their pride to go on for one more.

There might've been one or two who knew this was their last crack, but hardly enough to see the Brits winning less that 12-15 gold next time, IMO.

It'll be interesting to see if the Commonwealth Games being in Glasgow in 2 years time has an effect. You'd imagine for the events which overlap with the Olympics that the 2014 games represent a potential target for a Rio up and comer to make a mark on. And with Team GB being split into 4 for the Commonwealth Games, it means there's more places for potential Olympians to showcase themselves.
