Lara just took an almighty blow on the noggin from Shoaib - retired hurt, doesn't look well at all.

Yes, It wont be a contest without him. Good knock by Sarwan. Congratulations to Windies fans. They deserve it.

Wow, I've been out tonight, and never expected this - great win to the West Indies! I have a soft spot for both teams (WI and Pak), but I've been wanting the Windies to perform. Now beat the crap out of those Poms, boys.

One thing though - why oh why did Inzy opt to bat first???? Inzy, you so crazy!

Because Pakistan are poor chasers. In the past Pakistani captains have been hounded for electing to field after winning the toss.

That weighed against...
1/ Ball is seaming a lot and you've picked 4 seamers.
2/ West Indies batting lineup can be pressured by quality pace.
3/ West Indies is MUCH better at chasing than defending.
4/ West Indies has 2 specialist bowlers in their team.

Doesn't seem enough justification IMO. Stupid decision.

Yet he contributed little in the West Indies wins against England earlier this year. Interesting comment that.
Well there is a difference in the way England are playing right now. Although it's more or less the same team, but everyone seem to be clicking even Vaughan. :)

Well my wish is coming true I guess. The Aussies get whipped and now Pak gets whipped. The only part left out is England getting whipped. what a sequence of events to make my desires come true.....it must be a conspiracy   ....only if India were in the scheme of things.

It was a poor decision no doubt. But from 65/1 to 131 all out. I dont think it was because of the conditions. Pakistan has huge problems in chasing, In the last match against India they almost lost(thanks for those Afridi Sixes) chasing 200 .

As for Quality pace, Please tell me (except Shoaib Akhtar )who is a quality pacer in this pakistani team. Shoaib did his job and Sami once again proved how inconsistent he is.

Except Solanki, who is fast becoming the Phil Neville of English Cricket.

It would be an idiot to say that the West Indian performance - bowling, fielding and batting - was average.

Admittedly Vaughan had an outstanding game against the Aussies, but 1 or 2 good games does not equate 'clicking'.

In his last 6 games he's scored 0, 4, 74, 17, 5, 86. He's played a couple of good innings, but he needs to do it more consistently first.

Form is temporary, Liam - who knows what's likely to happen on Saturday when the two best teams of the tournament meet?

(hey, that sounds pretty good)

Yes, Michael Vaughan is a class batsman... in Tests. I'm not sold on him in ODIs yet. With his talent he should be scoring at least 40 per innings in ODIs, but he's under 25 atm and been around the mid20s for most of his career.
