England's chances of winning disappeared when the squad they named meant that they will have to play at least one of Solanki, Ali, McGrath and Batty.

50p says Solanki will score more runs than Trescothick. Can't argue about the other two though. Surely Bell would have been a better bet than McGrath.

All that being said, I think Tresco & Vaughan have been more culpable than than the fringe players this season. Unless the 3rd Indian game kickstarts Vaughan's ODI career, our main problems are a noncontributing captain at number 3 and Tresco's poor performances at the top of the order.

That would be because subliminally, they all know about the heartache SA will inflict on the poor Lankans. All this hullabaloo about the other teams is just a load of guff.

The Aussies can't win it, 'cos they've won everything, bad luck *has* to strike. Ind/Pakistan? Pakistan will implode in the playoffs, and India can't win anything outside the subcontinent.

England may as well have as good a chance as SL, it'd be a toss up there.... I'd go for SL, we need to beat them, we'll stuff England plenty of times in the coming months.
